Tonight's Blacklist episodes starts an HOUR EARLY!
The first episode will air at 8pm Eastern time and the second will air at the regular time, 9pm EST.
The scuttlebutt is these are going to be EPIC!
I put both episodes together, should I separate them?

It's OK to keep them together. We always end up having more to say about the second one in these pairs anyway.

Thanks so much for the reminder! I had the earlier start time written on my home office calendar, but it slipped my mind.
Tonight it's air-popped popcorn and one of those 100-cal cans of Pepsi for me! I mowed both front and back lawn today, so I can have a few more calories tonight.
Looking forward to both shows!

Thanks Tuxie! That was my reasoning but I wanted to see if anyone had preferences.
I am SO EXCITED!

So Liz doesn't care who Red was, she only cares who he is now. And he is someone who can't believe her ever again.

Dembe and Liz are in deep trouble. I fear for Dembe. Hee needs to have an exit strategy ready.

Wow! I'm still processing these two episodes.
I'll start with the easy item: I'm very glad that Red didn't kill Dembe. I didn't think that he would, but I didn't know for sure.
Now, as for the rest of it, I'm not sure what all I believe. Red's reaction to Liz and then his visit to Dom suggests there's still more we don't know, and I strongly suspect that KR is alive.
And then there's another twins episode next week. And that gets me thinking about the two brunettes (bubble girl and ballet girl). That mystery never got resolved.
I need a rewatch! I missed several lines of dialog.
Added: so who is Ilya, and did he have a wife and child, too? Dom was friendly to him and seemed to know him.
FYI: Rassvet means "dawn" or "sunrise" in Russian.

Red's reaction is the giveaway that he's not Ilya. He had the cheek twitch with Liz, and he didn't confirm that he was Ilya. Dom lied, again to protect his child - just like back in Moscow. Red wouldn't have to know everything Dom said if it was the truth. The truth doesn't change. I still think Red is Katarina.

I loved watching Lotte as Katarina. I just wish there more truth in Dom's story

It's entirely possible, Tuxie!
I'm not sure what to believe at this point. But just for the sake of discussion, if "present Red" isn't Ilya or KR, who else might he be? And what happened to Ilya, if Dom's story was even true?
Lots to think about.

Ilya was portrayed as a Russian agent who worked in the Russian Embassy in America. As Dom tells the story, Ilyas was a childhood sweetheart of Katarina's. Supposedly they pledged their lives to each other when they were six years old.
Iowa Watcher - What made you think he had a wife and child too?
Offline
Iowa Watcher - If Ilya was real, he probably died somewhere along the way. Who knows, Katarina may have offed him.
As far as I can tell, most fans didn't believe the Ilya story. All theories are still on the table because Dom's story was so obviously a lie.

I was thinking back to the home movies that Red was watching and also Swan Lake -- bubble girl and ballerina girl. We know now that neither of those girls were Jennifer, unless Red was somehow still Red . . .
This is not an original idea . . . I read it somewhere, but what if Red had a twin that KR didn't know about, and the twin did away with Ilya? That's getting complicated.
I've got to go to bed. I'll try to be more coherent tomorrow.

Dom's story fit a lot of the puzzle pieces together, but it doesn't mean he was telling the real story either. I think what he told Red is true, that he is tired. So I think he told Liz enough of the story to satisfy her curiosity. Remember, the story is from Liz's point of view. She is us. We only know what she knows, or thinks she knows. We do see things she doesn't see, but those things never really provide us with answers, only more questions, if anything.
This does make the painting more interesting, though. Who really did send it? It's obvious now that it portrays Liz as being responsible for Reddington's death. And I don't think Kirk knew that because he thought Red was Reddington all this time, so he didn't send it. In fact I figure what Red whispered to Kirk was that he was not Reddington and maybe even told him who he really is. But back to the painting. It was sent by someone who knows that Real Red is dead and that Liz killed him. So it had to be someone who was there when it happened or someone close to one of the people who were there. So who all was there? So far we think we know for sure that Liz, Real Red, Katarina, and Illyas were there. But there were more than that and we don't know if we've seen any of the others yet.
I am thinking that much of what Dom told Liz is true. Why did he tell her? Is he really just tired of the whole thing? I do think it's like when Liz asked Red if that was the whole story and he said "part of it". I think that's why Red demanded to know word for word what Dom had told her. There's much more and he doesn't know what exact parts Dom revealed. And it probably concerns the new big question - after they got the money and emptied out all those bank accounts they could have gone into hiding, never to be seen again, but he continued to "be" Raymond Reddington to this very day. Why? Is it only because of an obsession with Liz? Or something bigger? She's special, even Dom said he can't harm her. And what did really happen to Katarina? Is she dead or alive? Did he kill her? Was that PO box set up to give her folks the illusion that she's maybe still alive? Who and why?
I guess I'll have to rewatch and see if I can catch some of that dialogue that the music was muddying up for me.
Oh, and Dembe. I think he will stumble onto something and have to come back.

Honey West - I think the beginning of Dom's story was true (Katarina saving herself and stumbling into a church and subsequent women's shelter), and the end about the Post Office box. They are the anchors. Everything in between is questionable. In fact, I think that's why NBC did the Two Truths and a Lie promotion.

Just "Step into the Lie"
What an amazing line of dialog
The actor playing the young Reddington was astoundingly good.
Probably based his look on Spader's look in 'The Breakfast Club' or was it "Pretty in Pink"???

Final scene in Rassvet with Dom & Ilya was truly chilling!

The episode line I thought was most chilling was, "Of course the girl is off limits." Dom was like, you can't whack Liz, but Dembe, go ahead.

BBB - I totally missed the "Step into the lie" line. I'll have to look for it!
