Re: Bastien Moreau Conclusion

Iowa Watcher - I also like where the show is headed now with Cabal 2.0. So the task force is under new management with Ann McMahon thinking she's running it. The next episode looks intense with assassins after all the task force members.

I have mixed feelings about the imposter concerns just being dropped, but I can see why that needs to be done if the show is going to last another season.

I was surprised Liz told Ressler she was dropping the investigation into the imposter. But I have a feeling she'll keep looking for info about Katarina.  She now knows Katarina was alive in 1991 and didn't die at Cape May in 1990 like Red told her. And we have that Katarina episode coming in 6.19. Somehow she'll find something out about her mother.

Re: Bastien Moreau Conclusion

Colleen - I cracked up when Cooper told McMahon his reason for being happy she was the head of the task force. That was a great line!

That's a great list of parallels!

I didn't even notice the old man song. But I guess the anti Redarinas did. LOL

One of the things I'm happiest about is Vontae getting paroled as part of Red's immunity deal. He'll be a great addition to Red's team on the outside!

Re: Bastien Moreau Conclusion

Yep! There was a MAD HATTER comment from Red!

"I could tell you how to win a marathon, but you're assuming it's a 26.2 mile race. It's not. It's a 6.2 mile race that begins at mile 20." Raymond Reddington

Re: Bastien Moreau Conclusion

I liked how they covered Red's butt to protect his standing in the criminal community with the fake escape and putting him back as the number one most wanted on the FBI's list. We had wondered how they would handle that.

Re: Bastien Moreau Conclusion

I had a lot of favorite things tonight.  I think I just really loved what I heard Cooper telling Anna about why he was glad she would be there working with them!  I had to laugh.  I kept thinking, I wonder what Reddington has in mind for her?  He also cracked me up when he was talking to her.  I think we needed those funny moments to break things up.

I thought this was great too!  He didn't have to do that.  I hope no one hurts him there on the outside.  I think with the previews showing them being a target, I am worried that Anna will be trying to force Red into breaking the law.  Those were some really tight rules she laid out.  I don't think it is going to matter though, I do not expect her to be around a long time!

I think she is going to investigate on her own.  I am not so sure Liz can let it all go.  I a waiting for Aram to slip with something about Dom.  I was thinking how interesting it would be to have Dom telling her part of the story.

Re: Bastien Moreau Conclusion

As soon as I figure out how to post a photo, I have a nice photo of the dossier page Moreau was looking at. The dossier file was called The Princip Initiative.
Nothing jumps right out at me except there are some agent names: Kyrie, Dark Mind, and Douglas; drop info, and a note at the bottom saying  Corsican was paid out of Treasury funds. The entry is addressed to someone called Fire Marshall.

Re: Bastien Moreau Conclusion

I knew Moreau was a dead man when he said to Liz, "I'm gonna be a great asset for you. I know his secret."
Then he gets his brains blown out by McMahon's guy. Now how did he know to show up there and take out Moreau? If he was simply guarding her home, then wouldn’t he have seen Moreau break in earlier with the dead courier and done something about him before the boss got home?

I like it when they go more cloak and dagger like this.

Red: I’d forgotten how much this place reeks...of stress and anxiety...deodorized body odor and old coffee.
Aram: Was he talking about me?

Re: Bastien Moreau Conclusion

What an episode! I really enjoyed Red and Cooper's remarks about McMahon, and I like how the task force is gonna have to avoid passing her information. It's a bit like season 3 when the Director was working in the Post Office. I wouldn't be surprised if we'll see the task force having to operate under the radar at some point, losing its government approval due to their investigation into the conspiracy.

The Princip Initiative is an interesting title, probably referring to Gavrilo Princip, who killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand and basically started the First World War. He was a nationalist and apparently connected to an organisation called the Black Hand (Moreau mentioned an organisation named Blackfist). I wouldn't be surprised if the ultimate goal of the conspiracy involves killing the U.S. president and maybe start a war too. I believe the president is misinformed about the true initiative just like Moreau was.

I think Samar's story is really interesting and I'm curious to see where it will be going. I expect her to make some returns this season, but in what way I don't know. I start wondering whether Spalding Stark's project was about something that could help Samar.

Vontae will no doubt be put under Dembe's wing. No more than a quick 45 minute training session with Glen at Motor Vehicles. Glen is a good criminal (on the outside) but his big mouth and tendency for braggadoccio won't do young Vontae any favors. They could give him a short apprenticeship under Mr. Cooper - but I think the FBI kinda frowns on those things.

O well, at least our newest BIG BAD is now in charge of the task force!

Re: Bastien Moreau Conclusion

Honey West - Great job getting the photo of the dossier! It's too bad it doesn't contain more informatioin about this conspiracy.

Yeti - Great catch on the connection of the Princip Initiative to the assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand! You may be right that the president has been misinformed about the nature of the conspiracy. I originally thought the president would be the target of the assassination.

If the Samar retirement isn't a swerve (75% chance it is) then it wouldn't be a bad idea to have another ex-con with street skills fill the gap at the TF - especially if next season is to be the show's final season!

Samar filled a lot of gaps after Meera Malik left, the actress is probably a tad under-utlized in the overall scheme.- as Liz (the co-star) and various guest stars tended to over-shadow her.

I don't think she'd be leaving unless the show-runners wanted her gone to freshen up the task force and create varied story-lines for the emerging super-star Aram. . . . . or perhaps put her on the retirement bench but bring her back for the final 2 or 3 episodes!

Also possible that Mozhan has another iron in the fire (major motion picture) or #2 or #3 lead in a new TV drama that pays far more than she's ever dreamed of. Gotta make prudent decisions - she's nearly 40. Look what happened to Amy Acker after the glory days of Person of Interest ended - she took an abysmal role as a housewife to mutant children on The Gifted cuz thats what was available - Amy just turned 43. Sarah Shahi the other superstar from Person of Interest found a unique role on NBC's Reverie but the thing only went 10 eps before being cancelled. Shahi is now 40 - hard age to cast women.
