Very good episode. Couldn't watch it live - so just finished. Like most TBL eps - it was full of fury, content and wonderful dialogue - short on revelations.
1 line born of a previous philosophy comes to mind - "EXPLANATIONS ARE SLOW"
Loved the skill of the blacklister - and the psychiatrist was also impeccable.
Aram, Samar, Harold & Dembe pretty much had to sit this one out . . . .
Best line was NOT from Red - but from the doctor - when he zingered Liz with "only one FBI agent - and I don't know what that is (glaring at Jen)"

Was it me or was there a definite lack of music in tonite's episode?
Offline
Hi BBB! Yes, there was a strange lack of music in the episode. There was a song at the beginning - but that may be the only one.

Tatiana - I need to do a rewatch tomorrow. I noticed the stuff about mind control and super heroes, but really didn't take it all in. There were just other things that stuck in my mind more.
Offline
BigBad - yes, music was lacking.

It was Mind Music Tatiana - gawd, now I'm sounding like Reddington . . . .

Well, after The Bunker and rat lines in The Pawnbrokers, we had another Nazi reference in this episode: Klepper was called The Angel of Death. That was the nickname given to Josef Mengele, the doctor at Auschwitz who did horrible experiments on prisoners.
Offline
Yes, good Nazi reference w/ Angel of Death
Also, TBL show-runners running a simple game on use simple folk
From the Doctor who committed suicide (measure, life insurance way) - now handing things off to The Nurse, who may or may not recall Reddington's initial identity
I call this "Rabbit Hole Storylines"
Simple - but charming!
Thought both "doctors" were excellent in tonite's episode - the mobile home guy and the house psychiatrist

After some serious thought (about 15 seconds for moi) I think the most intriguing character in the current episode arc (Court & Spark, sorry Joni Mitchell) might be Mr. Sima's (Ken Leung) assistant at the prosecution table. Interesting she has not uttered one word since she appeared. Show-runners must, I repeat must have something up their sneaky sleeves with her. Don't even know the actresses' name.

I was also thinking about how much these girls are out of their league. As soon as Ressler picked up that phone, I said right out load that she screwed up not taking it with her.
Do they really think this nurse is just going to tell them what they want? I also wondered why she believed him? That could have been a lie.

Thank you for bringing this up, I thought the same thing. She just sits there.

Think this is the first time I've seen a character in a major scene from network TV show "parked" in the scene.
Since most of what our show-runners do is somewhat predictable I suspect she'll become the funnel by which Red departs the facility. . . . . although it could be said that until tonite's tube delivery of Dembe's cellphone, the court is more his natural habitat than his cell . . . .

Jen & Liz are pretty naive, I'll admit that.
However, the only thing that really bothered me about last night's ep was when Liz provided The Doctor w/ his gun, dismissed Jen to the car - then took a phone call from Ressler - and fully turned her back on a suspect with a gun.
Real FBI agents would never think of doing such a thing. Very easy for The Doc to shoot her - then find a way to dispose of an unarmed Jen, too!
But Liz is no longer a real FBI agent - she's breaking tons of rules in her quest for real identities (hers, Reddington, others)
But you'd think she'd still incorporate basic security and safety in her process . . . .

Yes! When she handed Jen the gun and walked away, I was waiting for something bad to happen. Then....
she turns her back on that gun. I couldn't believe it.
And I am glad you brought up the cell phone. As soon as it made a beep sound I was thinking why do you have the sound up on it or why didn't Dembe turn it down??

Tatiana and Iowa Watcher - The name Atticus punched my Atticus Finch button too. I see that Atticus was a ancient philosopher. That must be the reference Tatiana made.
Now if there were only some finches in that aviary.

The psychiatrist was awesome and did you see that face twitch on Red?! And the dead, stone face stare he kept for the remainder of the psych's evaluation about him. I knew that the writers and Spader used Red's expressions to hint on things Now I'm more invested than ever to my thought that Red's expressions are a huge hint. In real life, only thru extreme training or if one is a genuine psychopath lacking all emotions, can one control their expressions fully.

Just a couple obvious reasons we really can't trust our show-runners to cobble together viable story-lines & BL mythology. Our writers & directors are certainly not on the same level as the folks who wrote & produced shows like LOST, PERSON OF INTEREST, etc.

*POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT RE: CHARACTERS ON TBL
Here's a most chilling thought about Ken Leung's (Mr. Siam) mute 2nd at the prosecution table . . . .
Perhaps she's Maria Rostova - and has made her way into the plot . . . !!!!???? Crazy, outlandish, but if it plays out WHAT AN AMAZING, UNEXPECTED TURN!

I didn't even notice this character. Maybe she becomes more vocal during jury selection.
