Honey West - I thought that was It Happened One Night. What an odd choice for a movie.

Everything about me is a lie. Bingo! "Fred" lives!
Okay, so we - AND LIZ - know the answer. I really thought that we’d get to know but she wouldn’t. again.
Yeah, imposter was looking more and more likely as we got closer to the end. I kept trying to hold out for Red not being an imposter and Katarina being in the bag, but I have to say I’m glad it wasn’t her. Because that still leaves the possibility that she is still alive. And that could be very interesting for the plot.
So far I’ve only read the comments here up to the end of the show, so maybe some things have been covered in the following three pages. After all, it only ended ten minutes ago out here. So I guess I’ll work backwards to start.
I liked the device at the end of Liz telling Tom what happened. We already knew she visited his grave to talk to him, so that worked without seeming at all hokey. Plus, I like Ryan Eggold. Liz has certainly come a long way. She is more like her mother all the time, smart, resourceful, etc.
Just when did Jennifer know the truth? I really like the idea of these two sisters working together. They make a good team. They are both the daughters of the real Raymond Reddington. We knew there was a reason for using that 30 year old blood sample for the dna test.
Is this what Red told Kirk? That he wasn’t really RR? That RR was dead? I guess that would have stopped Kirk.
But back to the current ep. I loved Liz threatening to arrest Red. Then groggily proceeding to read him his rights. There was another line that made me laugh out loud, but I can’t remember what it was, rewatch ought to find it again. John Waters was a fun side trip. It made me think of Red producing that Mother Courage play. I wonder if he was really an actor before he became RR?
I liked seeing more of Ressler in the thick of things. And working with Liz. They are a good team. Maybe we will get more next year?
The Samar awakening BETTER be real! We need to have Saram to keep us sane. But I think it was, even though that took place around Liz talking to Tom.
I need to reread my imposter thoughts from the other day. If he doesn’t have advanced Harbormaster's Daughter Syndrome then there must be another connection that brings about this strong feeling for her. In fact, even though I don’t subscribe to Redarina, this still doesn’t rule it out. He has a connection to Dom that still hasn’t been explained. Why would he take the bones to Dom's place to burn them?
Speaking of Dom. He obviously is a large part of this "Fred" business. I wonder if Fred is one of Oleander's agents? It could be that he either killed RR or got him killed. Then Dom told him, okay, you blew it. We needed RR alive. So now you have to take his place. Maybe he resembled the real RR enough that they thought they could pull it off with a little plastic surgery and his prodigious acting skills. Was Fred a willing participant or was he "persuaded" to help. Maybe he had worked as RR's double already? After all we’ve always said how could Red have possibly done all of the things and been to all of the places he claimed in such a short time. Because there were two of him? Until one died. Well, that’s one thought anyway. Based on Red's statement to Dom that he wasn’t the man Dom wanted him to be.
So even after all we were told we still don’t know the core secret of the show. Who is Raymond Reddington, and what is his connection to Elizabeth Keen? She certainly intends to find out. And then destroy him. Dom told him that she probably doesn’t know what his secret is, but she knows he has one. Did he mean that she knows he’s an imposter but doesn’t know who he is or that she just knows he has a secret? I am thinking that they don’t know how much Liz really knows. Because they didn’t know the Jennifer connection to the duffel bag. So Liz also has a secret going forward. And that is what she now knows. They are going to be like two fighters circling each other. Season six is going to be good!

I thought the title was a little reference to the night of the fire. Whatever happened that night, it changed everything. Or maybe it’s a favorite film of one of the writers, in this case the Johns and Lukas Reiter.

Were they implying that he killed Naomi?
I think so. Her headstone was included in the montage of people who died because of knowing his secret.

KathyN - I like your theory and have thought parts of it myself. I particularly like that you linked Tom's understanding with what he discovered at the fake American village etc.
Re your comments on Liz, yes i agree, that's why I thought that she didn't believe that Red was her father. But evidently, she did. But now she knows better I guess.
I think that she wanted to believe that he was her father. And in reality Raymond Reddington was her father and he said he was Raymond Reddington . So it was only natural for her to believe that.

Brittany - the reason why, I think is this (maybe) - KR originally helped to bury the real RR as she loved him. So they were not tampered with. Then, something happened, maybe more recently, where they had to be moved, to protect them, to Tansi Farms.
That is why Kaplan apologized to KR when digging them up. Disturbing the final resting place of the man KR loved. And now, Red has to burn them to keep anyone else getting them. Red had affection and maybe even love for KR which is why he kept them buried. I have thought Dom his father, maybe KR then his sister. or half-sister.
Yes, that makes a lot of sense. I also wonder when Kate learned the truth. Was she part of the coverup from the beginning, or was she brought into it later by Fred? I think it is still very likely that Masha shot her father as we have seen in Liz's memories. Fred even confirmed that with "the man she loved killed by the child she adored,,." statement. Fred also admitted that he was there the night of the fire. If he had been burned he could have been "recruited" that night to replace Reddington, or maybe that’s when the conspirators began to form the plan to "replace" Reddington. The proverbial bandaged up accident victim. Who was really under those bandages? Perhaps in the official report of the fire, the man we know as Red was the one reported as killed in the fire. That would explain the body. Paying off or threatening the coroner to falsify the ID of the victim might not be too far fetched.
Ok, now I’m rambling. Time to sleep on it.

Another hint that Dom is "Red's" father.
In one of the past episodes where "Red" is sitting in a stolen Jeep Wagoneer: "My father loves his green Wagoneer." (paraphrased)
Honey West- I agree with your thoughts about the imposter theory seeming likely but not wanting it to be the case. I started trying to prepare myself for it when Garvey told Jennifer she had been in hiding for no reason. I just really didn’t want it to be the case. I feel like he led me on. Lol There’s a difference between being mysterious and being phony. But I’m also holding out hope that KR is still alive somehow.
Slightly off topic but I noticed on Megan Boone’s social media that she said something about one more season and then in her upfronts interview she talked about getting closure for the character next season. So maybe she is thinking next season will be the last for her? Or maybe it’s just the way she worded things. I do have to wonder how they would keep things going on for too long with him being an imposter. That has the potential to be dragged out too long like the duffle bag.

Hi, all -
The big takeaway for me was when the camera zoomed in on Spader's face at the very end when he was burning the bones. He looked like the personification of evil. It reminded me of early interviews with one of the show runners when he said that Red is not a good guy and there was also discussion that the character was based on the informant Whitey Bulger.
Just trying to tie back in to earlier canon. I have long suspected that Red is Number 1 on The Blacklist.

You are probably right about that, Honey West.

I'll focus on that on my re-watch. I thought he looked angry over all the problems that the bones had caused, like they should've been burned in the first place, and I don't think he was happy to be there with Dom and vice-versa.

I think the original plan was to run this series for 100 episodes or whatever they need for syndication. I don't think the show runners ever intended to stretch out the main story arc as long as they did. I think the sixth season will be the
last, unless they decide to take the story in a completely new direction, which I don't think will work, mostly because Redemption failed.

I haven't been able to watch this season due to the Wednesday night airtime, but I've followed all the EW recaps and the comments here - so thanks to everyone for keeping me up to date! The question I have is about Cooper. He must have known this was a fake Reddington, because he purposely got the old shirt for the DNA test, when it would have been so easy to get some from the current man - a stray piece of hair at the very least. (And when he turned himself in they probably took samples.) So why did Cooper play along? Also, I wonder if Ballet Girl is "Red's" real daughter, and he had to leave his whole real family to play Reddington. And Diane Fowler knew all that. None of this explains what Kate knew and when, and why she would play along. Or why our Red is so attached to Elizabeth. Unless he's Katarina...

Hey, LDJones, great to hear from you!
Just FYI, I have created a new hiatus forum under General for any and all post-reveal stuff for us. But do feel free to keep posting in the Sutton Ross area as long as you’d like. And if anyone can think of a more clever name, please feel free to,suggest it to me.

Hey everyone! Another season of this ----> . Warning: I'm all over the place with my thoughts. Apologies!!!
I'm not sure how I feel about the ending, about Spader Red being a fake (although if you look at previous posts I still questioned him being Red and being Liz's father). I don't mind the #mommytheory and I don't mind him being a fake, but I wish it would have surprised me. The reveal kind of fell flat and I believe it's because it's hard for me to trust that what I'm seeing and hearing is real and confirmed.
What did surprise me was Jennifer being in on it. I really thought we wouldn't see her again. I was surprised and SO HAPPY to see Dom, but now confused on his involvement. Sutton Ross was actually kind of a good guy in helping Liz and Jennifer????
I'm still curious on the following:
-What did Red whisper to Kirk? Was the whisper even long enough for him to be like, "Nah, bro. I'm an imposter. She's not my daughter. So killing me does nothing for you other than get the FBI on your tail."Or that, "No, Kirky Wirky, don't kill me. I'm your wife Katarina Rostova!" LOL!
-Why did Elizabeth look so beat up at Tom's gravesite? She did not look that bad when she tricked Red in that building. Like her eye was limp.
-What is Faux Red to Liz and now Jennifer?
-I'm still thrown off on Dembe's monologue about God not giving him more than he can handle in regards to both Red and Liz being dead. It just doesn't add up to me that Red saved him when he was young and he cared for himall these years. When and how would that conversation come up that he's A. not a man, but a Mrs. Katarina Rostova or B. criminal who has taken over another's identity. Maybe it was on Dembe's 18th birthday when our society doles out the title of adult. I struggle with that.
I can't even trust my own thoughts. LOL! I'm good to just keep watching and whatever reveals are made to just go with the flow.
I did like the return of Tom's spirit. Nice touch.
And I really do hope Samar is alive and that wasn't a dream sequence.
Was nice seeing Ressler being used so much in this episode. Maybe a little love connection is on the horizon for him and Liz? I wouldn't be mad at it now that we know Tom is really really really gone.
What would have put this episode into high rankings would have been the reveal coming out earlier and us get a start of some backstory of how this faux Red came to be (if he even is an imposter )Maybe he's seaduke? HAH!

@Laocoon, I've always suspected that as well, and they finally seem to be starting the arc in which he becomes the hunted again.
I think this was a really strange episode, quite different than usual. It felt more like a set-up for a final episode than a season finale, except for the end of course. Even the John Waters part, which was great btw, felt like a way to postpone the actual blacklister story. I would have preferred if they had skipped the Costa Rica part which felt more like a filler than a set-up. They could have done a two-parter for this blacklister instead, which he would have deserved in my eyes.
There was some great dialog though. I especially like Red's line: "There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking at the video."
I must say that I'm glad they finally brought out a big truth, though still keeping a lot of questions. At this point I believe Red has always been part of a deep cover operation against the Cabal, so I'm thinking Liz might change her mind about him again if she finds out about that. After all, Lizzie's reaction in this episode felt a little extreme, since Red protected her for a big part of his life. I believe Red protecting Liz is similar to Garvey protecting Jennifer. She is not his daughter, but he feels responsible for her because of what happened to her real father.
One thing I found strange about the flashbacks in the reveal is the scene with Diane Fowler. In all other cases, people were indeed dying because of a secret Red wanted to keep. In her case, it appeared that there was a secret Red wanted to know.

TheYeti, I felt different about this episode too and I agree that Sutton Ross deserved more time and less of the Costa Rica stuff in the previous episode. Has Liz really become that angry with her "father" that she'd just up and believe a guy (Sutton) planted by Garvey (who actually did kill her husband) to retrieve the bones and expose Red? Seems so fast and rushed, even if Jennifer played a behind the scenes hand in this. Wished they would have give 3-4 minutes in the Costa Rica episode to set this up better and for us to truly see Liz go that direction. Seems all we've gotten was a cute cat and mouse chase for the bones.

LDJones - It's good to see you posting again. Personally I don't think Cooper did know current Red was a fake RR. Our Red played the role so well that Cooper didn't suspect. I've always thought Cooper never worked that closely with the real RR, and all these years later wouldn't recognized him - especially if the plastic surgery made him look enough like the man Cooper met. I remember going to my 30-year high school reunion and only recognizing a handful of people.
