Eastcoast - I try to zero in on audio and visual distortions in the series. I think there were two others in this episode, at the beginning and somewhere in the middle I think. Then in the end with Liz remembering Garvey's voice.
Were the other two visual distortions? What do you think these distortions mean? We've noticed them before, like at the wedding in Solomon Pt. 1.

I'm surprised some of you thought this was a stellar episode. I would call it a disappointing filler episode - the weakest of the season. Other than Singleton's murder and Liz identifiying Damascus to Harold, it held nothing interesting for me. I calls 'em as I sees 'em.
It was stellar because the last few episodes have not taken themselves seriously; I literally blew my drink a few times LOL I love how they are playing with us. It's like they've taken down the 4th wall. The Zig Ziglar book and the quitting smoking/committing arson was hilarious. I feel more of Spader's influence every time. In the spirit of our original board, it's important to keep things positive.

Tuxie400 - in the beginning we see and hear through the eyes of one of the victims. I thought there was one in the middle of the ep but it kind of flew past the back of my mind. I need to re-watch. Those sorts of things can be explained but I've also seen things like Tom walking down a hallway where the visual was distorted.
the largest distortion of sorts was in the Travel Agency when they came back from a break and we basically all saw the day in the life of the blacklister from his perspective played over again.

I agree. The "Wack-a-Kat" thing from the season premiere was also a Spaderism. He mentioned that as a job during a late night interview. I love when they incorporate things like that into the show.

Its interesting to me that Liz's memory was restored when she heard Garvey's voice. Up to that point, she had no memory of the face of Tom's killer. The voice brought it back.
I wonder if that is a parallel of something.
It reminded me of Tom Connolly... He's behind her saying Agent Keen stop... she even got that hardened look in her eyes when she saw Garvey

that was very good. I felt like it was a nod to the die hard fans.

Yes, that scene also involved some visual and audio distortion. it was done in a very subtle way, but it was there.

Tuxie400 - the distortions have a happened a couple of times with Liz. Its like there is something on the periphery of her consciousness which she can't quite touch or remember. Like being underwater and not quite being able to see or hear clearly. But it has occurred in other instances too with other characters.

lara, It is very understandable though with what she went through.
I've been expecting to see Liz experience complications from her brain injury. I know this is television and her recovery should have taken oodles more time than it really did, but to have been injured so badly she spent 10 months in a coma, it would be highly likely she could experience things like seizures, migraines, psychiatric issues (depression, impulsivity, aggression), etc.

Eastcoast- yes, true. But I mean, stuff throughout the series. audio and visual distortions that occur with Liz and have occurred with others or just the way a scene was filmed. sorry I was not clear about that.

Brittany, I have said that too. I came to the conclusion this is TV land when it comes to injuries and that its in the script!
Eastcoast- I think it could make it interesting to see Liz experience complications. I keep thinking back to when she was on the run with Red in that diner and she turned her gun on him and he had to talk her down. I think something like that would be more likely to occur now. You know, if stuff were portrayed realistically.

lara, I see what you are saying. I think with her it just goes all the way back to everything she has been through and when they show stuff like that its a hint of sorts to something else. Like the Church at her wedding when Red told her they had to go. I think that was a throwback to something when she was young and we do not know what it is yet. I have wondered if he said that to her when he kidnapped her from her mother.
That scene you are talking about with Tom walking down the hallway, wasn't he drugged at the time?

Yes, I feel like her getting headaches like Kaplan did would be realistic but she probably wouldn't be allowed back on the force if she had things like seizures.

Tatiana and Brittany - Thanks for explaining what you thought made it a stellar episode. I do think things like the stop smoking book made it like an inside joke for fans. I'm sorry if you thought I was discounting your opinion. I just didn't have the same one, and was wondering what you guys liked so much. Although I see Pattie Edwards as one of the weakest episodes this season, it was still better than most of what's on broadcast TV.

Of all Red's scenes, I enjoyed his bedside chat with Singleton the most. I very much like Fagen, and the actor who plays him. The thing I liked most about the episode was that Heddie was at home with an allergy attack, and I didn't have to see her. Can you guys tell I feel really tired and crabby tonight?
Tuxie, I hope you feel better tomorrow.
That was funny about the mattress! lol

I must say, seeing him play preacher with that guy was very weird to me, even for Red.
I thought that was strange too. And I couldn't really understand why he was acting like a preacher. How was that supposed to help his case with the IRS?

I'm glad you guys find me funny.
Did the first IRS guy remind you all of anyone? In real life, the Blacklist, or an alternate universe?
He reminded me of Wally Cox.
Or Tom Arnold on his meds!

I have no idea Tuxie. It seamed very out of place. But that is the sort of odd thing that I was thinking about with my comment on the other board. Now that he has done this out of the blue, I wonder if there is a future show with something in it about a preacher doing that to him or someone?
