lara1 - I did notice how 70s the basement looked. I wonder why it was stuck in time that way? The clock looks just like one we gave my grandmother for Christmas circa 1974. It's interesting that the time on the clock matched the time on the Fire Night clock. I couldn't tell what was in the jar and I didn't look very closely at the trophies.

LOL, I caught part of a Dateline episode and the wife in the story tried to poison her husband with oleander.
Can't make it up....
Tuxie400 - I think the trophies were a bit incongruous. Yes, they are something you would find in a basement. But there seemed to be way too many of them.....we've seen trophies before. I can't recall exactly where, but maybe in Nico's office (in the Mato episode, not Requiem from what I recall); maybe the bondsman's office earlier this season.....

I am really beginning to think that Red is caught in some kind of a time warp.

Lara and I were just talking about that! Everything shows Red as a man caught in a time before maybe the 1970s. The fedora, the three piece suit and silk tie, the man-about-town, the quaint stories, the mid-century references. And who wears Vicuna anymore? In fact, in the 1950s you would have known of the "Vicuna Coat Affair" and in the movie "Sunset Boulevard", "As long as the lady is paying, why not take the Vicuna?" Vicuna was not as well known after the 1960s because there were so few of the animals remaining.
There's far more, but there really is a feeling of a ghost from the past casting his shadow on the present...

...yes. or thinking that cars still play audio cassette tapes of books. LOL

HoneyWest - I think during the discussions on the home movies, you mentioned that the film/projector was 8mm? which was once popular but after the seventies started to decline in use as it was replaced by newer film innovations?
It always did bug me that Red had that old film, that he lovingly spliced back together, and that old movie projector. Reminded me of when I watched movies in school, in the late sixties and early seventies. Also the style of dress the woman is wearing, seems to be seventies as well. Which is one of the reasons why I've never thought that bubble girl was Liz. But she could be.

Lara1, I just posted something in the suitcase discussion I meant to mention here about the 8mm,

Actually lara1, all that is possible about the cassettes, 8mm films, etc... if he is telling a story of his past....

HW, he defiantly has a taste for the older things. Makes me think of the Travel Agency now.
Lara, in my re-watch I tried to look for the stuff you talked about. I saw the screwdrivers and the glass full of ribbons.
I didnt think it that odd really since he's such a genius and is probably involved in many things. I saw 40 or so trophies of size. He has probably been getting them since he was in kindergarten so that seamed like the right amount for someone like him and his age. I couldn't see what the words were on them.
As far as the screwdrivers he looked like he probably built some of his pc systems like someone else I knew and they had screwdrivers everywhere. I must admit I'm a scissor and tool person myself. I have a pair in about every room.

They do out here on the prairie. A lot of us have 15+ year-old vehicles (including farm tractors!), and my local library still has cassette tapes of books. Granted, these are being replaced with CDs. To be fair, it's possible to check out MP3 versions of books online, but there are a number of elderly in Des Moines who still only own cassette players.
I was thinking about that a couple of weeks ago when temps were below zero. Sometimes CDs don't do well when it's that cold. Not everyone has a warm garage to shelter a car. However, the cassette tapes are still playing just fine at those low temperatures.

It's 4:01 am your time . . . I've been running into problems on several systems located on the East coast as I'm surfing around.
I woke up with a temperature and a nasty stomach ache. I took Advil and I'm eating yogurt. Something tells me I won't be going to work today.

Iowa Watcher - oh yes, of course. We have an older car that has one. Our 2002 car (our "new" car LOL) has a CD player so I'm guessing they started to include those sometime in the early 2000s. I should have been clearer. I meant in Red's top of the line brand new Mercedes. If he has one in that car, it would have been a special order I would think.

Thanks HoneyWest. It was happening whether or not I was logged in if that helps.

Good point! In the context of the show, he may have said something like, "Include as few electronic do-dads as possible!" which makes sense because he's careful to use burner phones so he's not tracked.
I'm home with a stomach bug today, so apologies if I'm not clear. This isn't one of the harder strains, or I wouldn't be sitting here typing, but I can't be more than a few steps from the bathroom today.
Looking forward to the show tonight! Perhaps I won't be as tired.

Iowa Watcher - take care, I hope that you feel better! There's some nasty flu bugs out there. Hitting more, hitting harder.
