Thanks Lara1, Honey West, and East coast! No doubt Red's Trieste castle will be fit for a queen

Really enjoy the heist-ish feel to this, even if Nathan Lane did not keep his promise on his father's grave.
Liz's bad acting at the hospital was quite funny! "Help Help, he came up to me at the vending machine. I might have some aspirin in my purse. Is he going to be okay?" Loved it and I wonder if it's a nod to anyone that underestimates Megan Boone's acting abilities. I know I have. Even though I know the character is written in a certain way and she is paid to carry out what is written.
Aram was so sweet with Liz.
Cooper actually laughing at Red!
Red and Dembe are men of steel. That van drilled into the side of them and they didn't have a scratch on them.

East coast- funny you mention Janet (Elise) - Because there’s been three times that I’ve noticed the name mentioned so far this season. I noted one in the live comments, another was at the very top of the Travel Agency ep, where the dj on the show on the clock radio station says that “Janet Jackson” has just been knocked off the #1 spot, something like that. The other one I don't recall, offhand.
Last night the van that hit Red”s car was a dry cleaner van (which reminded me of that Season 4 Kaplan ep where one appeared) and after the crash the camera showed the words laundry and washing, things like that. And Janet (Elise) flooded Aram’s apt with suds from his washing machine. 😀
I just wonder if Janet Is more than "Janet”
But I'm thinking she may just make an appearance before season end.

I completely agree, the fake acting was funny and she did it perfectly.. not too overdone, but clearly not well rehearsed LOL!!!! And I for one was a big critic of Megan in the first season but she's clearly disproved any doubts we may have had. She's even stronger now that Tom is gone!
It's almost like Red and Dembe are fictitious characters... no one gets T-boned like that and emerges unscathed. Hmmmm...maybe they have superhero attributes... or maybe they're ghosts and they can walk through solid mass....

Oh, and I think the hat may have also been a nod back to the Three Stooges hat routine that Dembe and Red watched on the hotel room TV back in Season 1....
Tatiana - ghosts who can walk through solid mass. .... don't get me started....LOL.

Nice to see Liz use Glen (partially) for a mission . . . . then even visit him in the infirmary after!
For a true mission, one that involves the horror of battle - I suggest Liz team up with none other than Aram's old friend - Elise! No question, they'd be fun!
I'd love to see Liz and Janet on a caper together!

I didn't think of that. The vending machine was part of our introduction to Glen back in Season 2, and Red did buy the DMV one.

Liz, Janet & Glen - if you need a bit more comedic element.
As for the T-Bone - Red's vehicles are top line vehicles - he's not driving Ralph Nader's rejects. His cars are top of the line limousine level with specially enhanced metal, I would have to assume!
Surprised Nathan Lane left Red alive - also surprised Red didn't kill off Nathan Lane. Code of Respect amongst super-criminals??
Ressler, Aram, Samar were basically sidelined as the episodes become more Liz Centric. Nathan Lane inhaled a ton of screen time so that's another reason. Didn't even have much time for Lane's associates.
Harold is hanging in there although I can't help wonder as Liz begins to take over her father's empire - will she have to do battle with her former friends at the Post Office?
The shock effect of any deaths from the PO would be tough to swallow as we've come to love these characters but I suspect the show-runners are seriously mulling a kill-off of one (or more) of the fantastic four. Imagine Liz having to do battle with Samar - or worse yet having to terminate Aram. That would be so sad - but riveting TV.

Another honorable mention was the 4 pennies buying the fireballs. Seems like something Red would have done as a young boy and a story he'd tell in his life now.

Weren’t they called Atomic Fireballs? I remember those.
Red's Mercedes has bulletproof glass, so I am guessing it is also armored. I don’t remember seeing any airbags after the crash, though. And does Red ever wear his seatbelt? He got a bloody nose and that’s about it as far as we know.
Any episode with Glen is a homerun. I wonder who sent him all of the balloons? His coworkers at the DMV? I wonder if we will ever meet his mom?
All in all a nice caper episode. We even got some of the main story moving along with Liz tying up some loose ends. I do think she’s going to have trouble with Singleton, though. He knows somethings up. And Red and Liz's relationship is getting more interesting all the time. She is his blind spot and she knows it and will probably continue to try to manipulate him as much as she can to get what she wants. I've been suspicious from the reveal about just how much she really regards him as "family". And I also wonder just how much he's actually falling for that. I suspect he doesn't entirely trust her, even though he does love her.

Honey West - I remember seeing James Spader in an interview say he doesn't think Red has ever trusted Liz. I imagine that's still the case.

...Atomic fireballs, eh? (thanks Honey West)
Somehow, I think there was a lot of information on Red's story itself in both the opening sequence about Treasure and the Poe story, as well as that exchange with Stern over the card table. Worth a focus on the rewatch.

The T-Bone of Red's car brought me back to Liz in the pilot, and of course, Season 4 (I think it was at the end of Esteban, another person with artificial eyes (without the next gen.). There have also been other T-bones in there series though I can't recall the exact episodes right now.
Yeah, Red's car is probably armor plated, but it did have a lot of damage and was flipped upside down.....and a cool scene to watch. Especially since w knew they weren't hurt.

I tend to think there are very few mythology clues in this episode. To me, it was just pure good fun for a change.

Honey West - I'm sure they chose those Atomic fireballs because they were red candy and hot, hot, hot.

Hi all, just a note that I've updated the parallels and numbers lists for a couple more episodes (not this one yet). The lists are updated as I re-watch an ep; additionally if new parallels come to mind. Thanks Colleen, for the Scotch items!

Artificial Eye contents = Another copy of Fulcrum?

RedIsMyCoPilot - interesting observation. And we've had references to ciphers in the last two eps, which would link up with the cipher that the Fulcrum had. Also I noticed when I watched last night that the scene where the presentation is given on the pennies and the mapping, was very like the presentation given to the reporters back in Season 2, on the contents of the Fulcrum. Different things but same themes in the episode, perhaps. The Edgar Allan Poe story Gold bug, that Red references in the opening scene, also involved a cipher.

RedIsMyCoPilot - Intriguing equation! In what sense were you thinking they were equal? To me, both items were hidden inside things, likely contain information others would want, and probably need to be decoded to be of use. Is this what you were thinking, or do you think it's a fulcrum in some other way?
