Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

Iowa Watcher and Tuxie400...I hadn't seen that re Megan.  That episode was filmed in mid-August....so --

I think that if Agnes is killed, for me it will be a parallel to what happened with Liz and/or Red's other daughter (if there is one, LOL).  the "first Elizabeth" who was perhaps killed as a result of something her father did, or did not, do, but not because he directly harmed her intentionally.  It would be the same here, because if that happened tp Agnes, it would be a result of something Tom did or didn't do, perhaps, not that he harmed her directly.  Just a thought.

Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

Well I finally caught up with all of these great comments!

Tuxie400 #69 - re the head shaving scene, maybe that was a more obscure pointer to Berlin.  Tom was trying to shake off the whole Berlin thing, wasn't he?  And he was off to Germany.  Then we had the more obvious pointers to Berlin, by name, in this episode.  Or maybe its just part of the parallel TBL universe we seem to be seeing right now!  But I agree, it was a logical conclusion to get to - that Pete was an operative.  But we then found out he was a con.

Brittany - yes there are many complicated theories out there and just plain simple theories!  LOL.  I sometimes think in the end, the explanation is going to be very simple, but a shocker.  So the complex theories as such won't necessarily be true, but diversions from the simple truth (TBL as a magic trick).  So that we are more shocked at the ending than we otherwise would have been.  But even though it may be shocking, doesn't mean it can't be simple.

I also sometimes think that the story is being told on "two levels" , kind of like the basic version and the more complex and dark "adult" version, that can only be hinted at.

I really enjoy reading your comments because they are often so solid and full of common sense!  and often different to mine - and I like to hear those ideas, it makes me step out of my own "mind box" and reconsider what I have seen.  So thanks for all of the time you put into sharing your thoughts here with us!

Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

I wish The Blacklist had been a Netflix show or some similar network.  Imagine how much more amazing it could be with practically no constraints...

I’m still just a puddle of goo over Dembe and Red from this episode.  I want a ride or die like either of those men.

Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

Hi guys,

I hope that whatever secret is going on is a major shocker even if it is simple and straightforward. I still can't fathom what secret is such a danger to Liz that Red has kept it this long......and put her in so much danger already! I always say "couldn't Red have instructed Sam to steer young Lizzie toward a simpler career?!? Like a kindergarten teacher in Nebraska? A cupcake shop owner?! Red could've put up the investment dollars for the bakery!" Haha but then I guess we wouldn't have this show. (Hmm, a thought just popped up. That it might be no coincidence that Liz is working in Harold Cooper's unit. I believe Red might have met with Harold prior to the show's beginning asking him to keep Liz close.)

I really love this show and cannot wait to finally find out its big secrets. I hope that after all this, we are thoroughly shocked. Us fans have certainly invested enough brain power into it!

Brittany, I agree that since reading forums and listening to the podcast I might have too many ideas floating around my head! The show is so engaging that it seems impossible to me to not seek out what others have to say. I really enjoy keeping up with our little group and hearing everyone's input from all different angles.

Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

Jackpow—I agree.  I love being able to talk about it.  I don’t know tons of people in RL who watch so I have to talk to someone and this is a mighty fine group.

Has anyone else heard the BL exposed podcast yet?  Aaron was questioning if Ressler could be involved somehow because of the Prescott blackmail?  That would be interesting though I’m not sure how likely it would be.  The promos say eveyone’s Lives will change so maybe Prescott and Ressler have a big storyline involved as well.

lara1 - I agree with this thought of yours.

"I also sometimes think that the story is being told on "two levels" , kind of like the basic version and the more complex and dark "adult" version, that can only be hinted at. "

Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

I think i watch somewhere between the levels.  I try to look past just the basic, but probably more so at character motivations rather than all the literary themes.  Probably because I’ve dedicated my life to getting inside people’s heads, I guess.

I also think my patience has waned because of networks dropping entire seasons at once.  I wish everyone did it now.

Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

Brittany - I think Aaron is way off base with his idea that Ressler killed Nik. And I'm not even sure Ressler's situation will come up in the finala. But it may. While Ressler is willing to drive a car with a body somplace, I just can't believe Ressler would kill someone to keep is secret quiet.

I do hope the Bones somehow prove Katarina is alive, or draws her out of the shadows. Maybe she is Oleander.

Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

Here's a new wild thought I just had  about a suprise that could happen in the finale. In the first two episodes Cooper keeps talking about being under pressure because of his new boss. We haven't seen that new boss though. What if the new director is Ian Garvey? Wouldn't that be a surprise?

Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

That would be super interesting, Tuxie.  I’d love it.

And I agree that I don’t think Ressler killed Nik.  But I am eager to see Ressler’s story line develop.

Katarina as Oleander would be great.  Beautiful, but deadly.

Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

Brittany, Tuxie400 - that's an interesting idea about Ressler.    I agree - I don't think its likely and the other thing is, what would Prescott have to gain by killing Nik?  he's in the business of disposing of bodies not creating them.  And no I don't think Ressler would do it unless maybe some major thing was additionally held over his head.  But maybe in that case he would go to Red for help.  Or maybe not.

I do find it interesting though that we haven't seen the Ressler storyline for a few episodes now.  which does give pause to think,.  It would be a super wild twist.  But I don't see it at least not yet.

Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

Garvey suddenly popped out of the script, so to speak. He could be very important - or just another pseudo-mope villain who goes down too easy when Red gets GPS on him.

He could also be Mossad - which would no doubt bring Samar back into the fray - in a big way!

One thing is sure - Tom is as good a silver-tongued devil as there ever was. As good as Red? Probably!

This week's side-dish The Kilgallens failed to live up to their billing. Pops was easily discarded by #1 boy, and #1 boy was easily given up by Mama K. In the end Mama K (who's still alive) was the most interesting person from the latest serving of side-dish mopes.

BBB - I agree that Mama K. was the most interesting of the Kilgannons. I think Red is probably going into the smuggling business with her.

Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

Well we have several callbacks and parallels to Season 1 with this episode.

1. Human trafficking takes us back to The Freelancer and Floriana Campo with her secret sex trafficking operation.
2. Humans in a refrigerated box and running out of air is a reminder of The Courier and Seth who was buried underground in a refrigerator.
3. Seeing Tom tied up an threatened goes back to the pilot.
4. Red's talking about Dembe being his light in the darkness is reminiscent of all the times Red compared Liz to a light.
5. Red's desperation to save Dembe takes us back emotionally to Anslo Garrick when he's ready to put a bullet in Dembe's head.
6. While Dembe's bunny makes a little girl smile, the scorched bunny Liz finds in a box from Sam's makes her cry and have a fire flashback in Anslo Garrick.

Is Dembe's care and protection of the little girl who is separated from her parents a parallel for what happened with Red and Liz? Only time will tell.

Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

Tuxie400 - With #4, and #2 (add Liz suffocating in the Post Office box with The Director), MP theory?

I haven't yet re-watched but can't wait to do so.....

Did someone refer to somebody in this episode as a snakehead?  I wrote that down in my notes and now can't remember what it was!  Red and snakes..

Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

Colin Kilgannon said: "When I hire a Snakehead, I expect him to know how to ship our clients without killing them" before shooting Zhang.

A snakehead is a Chinese term for one who smuggles people.

Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

lara1 - Well yes, Liz almost suffocating in the box would be a parallel, as would Red's "dying" for two minutes in Marrakech.

I find the severing of fingers interesting too. But those are parallels of Season 2. Carla lost one. I think Caul lost two. And poor Pete loses three. Does that make Ian Garvey three times worse than Berlin?

Other Season 2 parallels include dead bodies floating to shore in the ocean. That's been done before - but only with single bodies - in the Mombassa Cartel and The Scimitar.

And of course, lara1 noticed during the live watch that Berlin - the city and not the man - was referenced at least twice.

Re: Episode 5.07 - The Kilgannon Corporation - Discussion Page

I wonder if the fingers thing is their way of showing us that Ian Garvey is the one who tried to get Caul? I get the feeling he is part of the bigger conspiracy that Fitch, Caul, Red and the Cabal are part of.

Could be, Honey West. I hope he is, and we get some more clarity about the conspiracy and what happened to Red.

Didn't they say we would be getting more of Red's Russian connections this season?
