I'm rewatching the Director because I feel like it ties into the memory manipulation timeframe that Krilov referred to in 4.19 and I just realized that the guys who drive up in the fake prison transport truck are the same ones who help stage the crime scene in The Director. Morgan and Chuck drive up in a police car. I love the little throw backs to previous seasons.

Yeti - That is a great parallel with Ressler and Sturgeon's - both having no way to go back!
Brittany - I thought Morgan and Chuck looked familiar. Thanks for finding the connection to The Director.

Also - wasn't that Danny holding the gun and saying "yes boss" in that scene in the premier?
I thought it was and glad if he's still with Red. I'm thinking he would be.

I also wonder if sturgeon/ caviar is a geographical clue. Caviar is now produced in the US also, I don't know where though. Worth looking into.
But I agree what a perfect reference for Resdler.

As many of you seem to be looking for meaning behind the name Sturgeon, I remember knowing that the sturgeon is one of the few fish species that is not able to swim backward. Therefore, small sturgeons often die in ponds as they get restricted in vegetation. One of our own sturgeons once managed to swim himself stuck in a corner of a pond.
This makes a nice parallel to Ressler who has gone off the right path with no way to go back. Instead he is only pulled in deeper now that Prescott is using him to get favors.
What a terrific observation, theYeti! I had forgotten that about sturgeon. They are such prehistoric-looking fish. But, yes, Ressler truly is in a place now where he can't go back even if he wanted to. He has joined Reds World, not just entered it. It sort of makes me wonder if that might have been how Red got caught up in that same Dark Side, way back when. Of course, I don't think he learned how to hot wire cars at the Naval Academy.

Honey West - I had no clue about poaching sturgeon and the cultural importance to local immigrants. Maybe someday the Refugees could compete on Jeopardy. Together we'd kick butt!!
Tuxie400 - Whack a Kat - great catch! Thanks for the info. Jeopardy look out ;-)
Well, I did make it to the second round of auditions a year and a half ago. But it looks like I need to take the test and try again. My 18 months on the list is up. I think they should try a Team competition on Jeopardy. We'd do great as a team!

About the Wagoneer which we discussed above - I re-watched 5.01 last night and I've compared the Wagoneer to the one in Artax in photos. I can't say that its the same car but Im pretty sure its the same color - which I think is hard to tell. For both cars, they appear light a greenish navy blue in some photos, but that dark hunter green in others - depending on the light I guess. The dark hunter green would line up with the other Red car references I mentioned - the Range Rover in Cape May etc....but I can't say for sure whether the Wagoneer is dark green or dark blue. But whatever color it is the two Wagoneers appear to be the same color.
It could be they wanted to save on production costs, but at the same time I'm sure there are plenty of other cars they could have re-used. I'm not sure if Ford/Lincoln are still a sponsor....Somehow though I don't think its that, combined with the purposeful lines that Red says about his father having a Wagoneer.
Of course the Wagoneer at Dom's wasn't necessarily his. I think there was more than one car - one that was parked (which I think was the Wagoneer) and another one nearer the barn, I think. Even if that's correct, not sure why else the Wagoneer would be parked there. If it belonged (or had belonged) to someone else, it probably would have been parked nearer the house or barn and not out in the open. Just a thought.....

Wonder if the show-runners and especially Diego Klattenhoff regret naming the character "Donald" what with all the world affairs, et al???
Also wonder if Donald Sturgeon will have to kill off Amy Acker's husband now that he's revealed he's hiding the evidence - didn't destroy it! GAME ON, GAME ON, GAME ON!
Could be a nifty side show with Donald vs. Acker's husband!

Re Sturgeon and Caviar -
HoneyWest you got me thinking so I looked a little bit into the American caviar industry. I found an article from around 3 years ago that stated that over 80% of American caviar is produced in the Sacramento valley. Which isn't surprising hearing that sturgeon are abundant in California.
Apparently a Soviet scientist started sturgeon domestication research (I'm assuming this is another term for fish farming) in the 1980s, which launched the industry. And I'm guessing the banning (I believe) of both Russian and Iranian caviar further propelled the industry.
So now I find this sturgeon reference a possible California geographic clue. Honey West, wasn't one of the Zodiac killings in Sacramento? And I can't recall whether there was a case study house there....Kind of forgot about the Zodiac with all of the other stuff we've been discussing since....

BBB - that's a possibility with Ressler given he's launched himself on a tricky downward path. but I tend to think he'll be blackmailed several times before it comes to that....

So I re-watched 5.01 last night and I picked up other themes. I didn't write them down but will just mention two more - did anyone notice in the very opening shot of NY harbor, there is a lone white sailboat on the river?
And, the locker where Kaplan stored the suitcase may in fact be the # 36. Wow, if it is. I couldn't see it in the scene with Dembe, but what looks like the locker next to it is clearly marked "35". That would be like the fourth mention of 36 in the episode and a meaningful one. I just wish I could figure out what "36" refers to.....

lara1 - Here are a couple of interesting things about the number 36. It's the atomic number of the chemical gas Krypton, whose symbol is Kr. KR, as you all know, would be the initials of Katarina Rostova. Also, Krypton is used in making red lasers. See, I told you I could connect anything to BL!

Tuxie400. - LOL. And JB's recent comments about kryptonite. See I did it too! haha

lara1 - It was JB's comments about Kryptonite that made me take notice of Krypton. LOL By the way, it always bothers me when JB says Liz is Tom's Kryptonite. Kryptonite was what would kill Superman - not what would keep him alive.

JB has used Kryptonite in the wrong context several times and in the correct context a couple of times. lol. I think we need to send him a Superman comic book.

Sorry I don't have time for much more than a drive-by posting, but here's a few quick thoughts a few days behind:
Hah! Of course everyone at the hotel loves Red; it's going to be fun watching him rely on his charm, since he doesn't have much else at the moment. (I mean free drinks help, but personality goes a long way.)
Cooper jumped the gun--he definitely should have let Liz break the news to everyone. Figure that way, she would at least have some control over the situation.
Lizzy's used to reading Raymond Reddington: The Concierge of Crime--she hasn't the foggiest how to read Red: her Pops. (Which I think is why she misjudged his excitement for fear, even after he spelled it out for her.)
Aram is struggling to tell the truth about something insignificant in the grand scheme of things, while Ressler is struggling to avoid the truth about something major.
(For what it's worth, I'm willing to bet the jig is up, and Cooper already knows the truth--or at least highly suspects something. I really hope there's a moment in time down the road, where Ressler goes to Red for help. Figure Donald has caught glimpses, here-and-there, that Reddington isn't necessarily the horrible cut-throat traitor he thought he was for all of those years. I think it would be great character growth for both.)
Red pretending all the while that he doesn't care about Smokey's fate at all. ^-^ And then Liz pulling over for the "Marshals", and being all angry about the Cartel "getting away". Things would have gone even smoother, if she'd just trusted Red. Granted, he could have coughed up the goods and let Liz know what the game plan was--but then again, that's never been his style.
Aww, Cincinnati! If only they had made a slight detour to Dayton, they could've been in my backyard. ^-^
Hah! I was right in thinking that Aram would find it cool that Red is her dad. ^-^
Honey West: Happy (belated) Birthday! (A couple of years ago, I got Gregory Devry on my birthday. It's kind of like the perfect gift, really. )
Brittany: I was thinking the same thing--it sounds too coincidental for Red to have not met Sam at a carnival. Also, fantastic analysis! I'll have to go back and read everything again, when I get a second.
When I first saw the whole flash deal with Red and Dembe going after Tom, my initial thought was, "Hahaha! Tom just realized he really didn't ask for daddy's permission." But seriously, I think it's more or less Tom realizing things could go side-ways very easily if he doesn't play his cards just right--and Tom being Tom, means he most likely won't be playing his cards just right.
Also-also, I'm going to go out on a limb and say, as of right now, I'm still going with the bit that Red is indeed Elizabeth's father. (I think he stopped calling her "Lizzy" by the way, when she got all ticked off at him and screamed, "I'M NOT YOUR LIZZY!" on account that she thought he was ambushing Tom, when Tom was screwing things up just fine on his own.)
Mostly I'm going along with the whole paternal deal, because I don't see any reason why it would serve Red to pretend to be something he's not. The whole father deal is only going to complicate things for him, in the sense that it's going to get trickier to keep Liz out of this immediate line of danger due to who he is.
Figure there was already the Katarina conundrum which is one thing--but she's out of the picture, as far as we know, at this point in time, most likely even dead. But Reddington? I bet there's a lot of people who would like to get their hands on someone close to him. I mean Smokey is with them for what? A few hours? And he already sees it. How long will it take the more nefarious criminals of the world to take notice?
On another note, I kind of like these new kiddos. Figure they're no Kate and Baz--but that's kind of the point. It's a new beginning, and things are moving right along. Overall, I thought the episode was a lot of fun, and fantastic!
Also, I HATE the song "Don't You Forget About Me"--but I liked this version of it a lot. Props to The Blacklist crew, always coming up with quality tunes. ^-^
(Apologies for not being around this summer. My mom was in the hospital for most of the duration. Also, my Sadie pup has been diagnosed with lymphoma--at almost 17 years of age, I know our days are numbered, but it's something altogether different, when there's a definite timeline in play. Needless to say, we're focusing on quality over quantity, these days. )

No, not Zodiac killing here. We had the Unabomber.

HW, The skull has changed Drastically in my opinion. It's all different. The forehead, the nose, and eye sockets... The rib cage too like you mentioned.
I'm going to post a close up of both skull.
The one from last season is a better one. It's been hard to get anything really good of this new one and I haven't had time to sharpen it or anything.
1st one,
2nd one,
The rib cage is something I noticed right away. I also noticed the color was different. The bones at the finale were more brownish where as these are more gray/dusty.
