I share your pain, Lara. This is one of the few Wednesday evenings that I'm home this early. Normally, I have things to do until 8:00 pm.
My ability to watch live is up to the weather gods from week to week because I use a digital antenna for live NBC and I'm far enough from the tower that weather will completely take it out. Today it's working, but may not always be the case on Wednesdays.

Hi everyone! Like many others, I won't be able to watch it on Wednesday nights too. (Young kids, bedtime / bath time) I have no cable and also like Brittany, a digital antenna, but mine stinks! I've always watched it the following morning on the free NBC app on my iPad, if that helps anyone. It sounds crazy to watch it on such a small screen but with good quality earphones and a good quality iPad and watching in a dark room, you really can still get so emotionally involved in the episodes even on that smaller screen!
I can't wait to read everyone's comments after I watch it tomorrow!!

I'll be watching live tonight. I'll miss those of you who won't be able to watch until later!

Very engqging first 15 minutes! Even though I had seen most of it with sneak peaks, it was fun to see how those scenes fit together.

I'm so confused. What was that 'flashback' of Red and Dembe coming into Tom's apartment and shooting him? was it a flashback? was he imagining it? Thoughts?
This was a fun episode.
Offline
Tatiana - It's not a flashback. It's what Tom imagines will happen when Red finds out he has the suitcase.
Offline
It was a very fun episode. But I can't say I'm thrilled about the two new characters.

Red was having a blast! The opening sequence was funny. It was good to see him smile.
Yeah, I'm not thrilled about the new characters, either, but I'll give it some time.
It seemed like they cut back on the violence somewhat. Yes, there was shooting, but there wasn't quite as much blood. Still, 7 pm is awfully early time for broadcasting that show. SVU follows it at 8 pm.
That's about it for me tonight -- headed for bed in a bit. My day started at 5 am.
I thought it was pretty good. It was fun, I was glad to see Liz smile more, Red was having a blast, and it seemed like he was trying to put Liz's mind to ease a little bit after that statement by Putnum about DNA and how he was like his father.
My initial thoughts on that scene with Tom were that either those are his fears of what Red would do if he found out Tom had the suitcase or it is supposed to be a glimpse of the future. But now I've read an article interview with Bokenkamp that says it is a flashforward to the future. He says "Tom has kicked the hornet's nest". God, that sounds AMAZING! (Pretend I said it like Oprah).
If you look at it, Tom looks like he's had the crap kicked out of him already, and there was what looked like an injury or blood stain on Red's head as soon as he comes in the door, so likely something had already gone down. I can't decide if Red would kill Tom or not. If he thought Tom was a danger to Liz and Agnes, without question he would. If the threat was only to himself and not the girls, then I don't know. I don't think he would want to hurt Liz and Agnes like that. I think he might be shooting someone Tom was fighting.
I can't wait for more! I read in an interview with Bokenkamp earlier that episodes 8 and 9 have some cliffhangers that takes the show in what he called a unique and different direction. Episode 11 is their 100th episode. I'll rewatch tomorrow on the NBC app and probably have more feedback then.

Wow that was a fun family road trip! I made it to a friend's in time to watch! I'll comment more tomorrow but the first 15 minutes was packed with clues and there were tie ins with the pilot!
I saw children, swimming, water, flags, tattoos, multiple references to time and numbers (in fact Red used the word "time" 3 or 4 times I the first 15 minutes), the magic number 36 (I think maybe twice) wizard of oz, mr Magozo, card games, almost all of this on first 15 minutes! I could not tell whether the wagoneer was green like the other significant cars of late or blue
The flash forward or whatever it is of Tom - reminded me of the pilot after Zamani got to him. I still can't help but think Tom knows more than he lets on...
Tuxie400 - did you pick up on Red tossing quarters in the pool for the little girl to dive in for, and the overall theme of the carnival
Anyway it's late I'll pop by tomorrow. But I really enjoyed it. ^_^😄

What a great birthday present! That was fun but it was also nice to see Red's mechanations going down with his ultimate goal of team-building in the end. He might be down but he's not out and he is still the one outsmarting everyone else. I liked Smokey; we haven't really met Hawkins yet. The Task Force has some interesting new issues to wrestle with. Oh boy, Ressler is in deep doodoo now. I wonder if Red will have to help him eventually. Aram worries about having an office romance while his fellow agent has a criminal mastermind as her father. I think Aram shouldn't worry. Tom should worry. As long as he has that suitcase he will be in big trouble when Red finds out. The question will be whether Red would commit that mortal sin or not. The bones in the suitcase look like a small person when compared with Tom standing next to them. Yet some of the bones look larger, even though cut up. But, meanwhile, Tom pushed the suitcase away so Liz didn't see it. He was fully prepared to share it with her at first. He's got some serious thinking to do.
lara1, I'm pretty sure that car was green and we could see the color better in those early behind the scenes shots that I think were on Aly's site.

HoneyWest - deep doodoo! Lol. But so true!
Thanks for confirming the wagoneer was green. Like the cars in cape may, apothecary and requiem. Hmm
For now I'm off to research mr magoo and why he keeps taking over TV sets in TBL! Maybe just an inside joke, lol!
I've missed the car color theory...can someone explain it to me? Dom also drives a wagoneer. I think his was blue.
And does anyone else listen to Keen Minds? I started in the last couple of weeks and now I see all the plaid. lol!

lara1 - I didn't notice many clues at all. I was having too much fun to focus on them. The carnival is where a lot of grifters get their starts. I did notice Red said he worked two summers in a carnival. The expression "I'm flush" is one grifters use. I didn't connect the throwing quarters in the pool to the old carnival con of tossing quarters onto plates. Thanks for linking it to the carnival theme.
Brittany - How cool that it was a flash forward! I almost suggested that, but then decided it was just Tom's imagination since immediately afterwards, he hides the suitcase behind the couch.
Honey West - Hope you had a terrific birthday! The bones do look small from the angle in last night's show. My original thought in the Season 4 finale was that they were a child's bones. I suppose they could those of someone belong to someone built like Glen.

Tuxie400 - I think you may have said elsewhere, "Back in the NY Groove", is that maybe near where Red got his start way back when? And the NYPD fingerprints in the "Reddington" FBI file (I always put that in quotes, LOL I can't help myself! ). And all of the grifter references here.....Red even knew some "carnival language". And he basically pulls in a grifter to rebuild. I do wonder if that is how he got his "start". Of course this plays into imposter theory, in my own head that is!!
I was also picking up on children references - from the pool to "lions and tiger and bears" - from the Wizard of Oz but at the same time reminded me of a reference to a zoo, which links back to the pilot, and the Bronx Zoo box (there's that NY reference again) with Katarina's things in Dom's garage.....
Maybe that’s where he and Sam met? Working with carnies? I could see Sam growing up in that culture.

Brittany - thanks for the reference to Dom's wagoneer, I did sort of remember a kind of station wagon car parked outside the barn. So Red says his father had a wagoneer.....hmmm. Several of us here, including me, have theorized whether Dom is in fact Red's father - either biological, or adoptive, or father figure - a central person in Red's development. In that scenario, KR may or may not have been Red's sister, and kind of assumes that "Red" therefore never had an affair with KR. (In my version of imposter, real "Reddington" did.). I thought about this theory again in the S4 finale with the conversation Red has with Dom about not being the person Dom wanted him to be. Could mean several things of course....
The color theory is not so much a theory but an observation I had starting with Philomena. In that episode, Philomena is driving a dark green car to meet with Kaplan when she is intercepted. (may have been a Range rover, I honestly can't remember the type of car, only the color). In the Apothecary, the car that Red drives to what turns out to be Marvin's fiancee's house is the same dark green. Then we picked up on the color green in Requiem - Kaplan's new glasses, and bright green on the TV and computer screens. The car parked in the hotel garage in Cape May (which was either a Range rover or Land rover I think), which Red was going to use to "escape" with KR, was the same dark green. And at the top of the episode here, Red tells the valet he is missing his Range Rover.....
I think at the time, someone uncovered an interesting theory for the color green but I can't remember what it was! It wasn't any of the obvious ones, like naive, or envy/jealousy. I just can't remember!
I don't listen to Keen Minds. Only TBL Exposed podcast. Yeah, plaid. I've kind of given up on that as its in every episode.! but yeah you can't stop seeing it! When I first noticed it, was around the Solomon/Cape May episodes. Particularly the guy in the diner who is after KR, is wearing a plaid shirt. Then in ARtax Dom was wearing one. At first I thought it was a clue connecting people who were at the fire. But its just everywhere! LOL

OH! I nearly forgot. I think there was a very vague reference to Christmas in the very opening scenes
Red steals the RED car (like in the FBI story - I mean the car color was red) and drives away and there is a close up of the front left of the car and the registration sticker - 12/18. I have no idea how my brain works (!) that i noticed that immediately, I guess because I just renewed the registration for my own car, it was in my head. But when I saw it I right away thought that was weird.....its not supposed to be December yet (in the show), right? So why is the renewal sticker 14-15 instead of 12 or under months out? I've never heard of that in NY unless there is some special rule for vintage cars - I don't know if there is or not. Still, interesting that its December.....LOL OK I am editing this, the registration is 2 years, the inspection, 1 year in NY. So 12/18 for a registration wouldnlt be odd...still, it is December!!! I think I need some more coffee...LOL
Edited - oh, i just connected the green cars....maybe....red and green, Christmas colors??? maybe.....or maybe not!
Edited to change the car registration comments......now back to RL!
