BBB - thanks for the article on Amy Acker that you posted on the other thread.
Switching topics briefly, I understand that Global TV will no longer be airing the Blacklist come Fall. Its moved to City TV - do you have any thoughts on that? Apparently Diego is in Toronto helping to promote this move to the new channel.

You're welcome Lara - (on the Amy Acker article) - you'll note the article is at least 2 years old - and Person of Interest hadn't stopped filming yet. The most interesting aspect of the interview were some of the despicable/hateful comments at the end where some folks just hate the idea of a strong female character - and Root might have been the strongest character to ever hit our screens, at least as far as non-fiction characters are concerned. Obviously Supergirl & Wonder Woman are amazing super heroes - but I believe Root would have figured out ways to disarm and subdue either or both (with a bit of help from The Machine, of course, lol)
As far as switching from Global to City in Canada - it really makes little difference. Canadian ratings are fractional compared to USA ratings. Neither Global nor City are known as huge promoters of their shows. If they do extensive promotion - its usually for new shows - to build an instant audience. More mature offerings get a smattering of promotional mentions during the lead up to episodes. CTV has the best promotional tools and uses things outside of its own air-time to promote their shows (ie. radio, billboards, magazine ads, etc.)
In Canada we have the opportunity to watch Blacklist (and many other American network shows) on the originating network (CBS, Fox, ABC, NBC, CW, etc.) plus a simulcast on the Canadian network carrying them. What usually happens is the American commercials are substituted by Canadian commercials so we never see advertising of American origin on simulcasts.
Recently, Gotham returned to the airwaves for a finish of Year 2. CTV didn't have the American network to simulcast with so they aired the episodes at 10pm in my market, 11pm in Ontario and midnight in the maritimes. That's very unusual! Perhaps they were afraid of some of the bloodlust and violence (no more than most shows) that Gotham portrayed.

BBB- thanks so much for that information. I did not know that NBC would broadcast simultaneously with Global/City (if I understand you correctly). That's interesting. I wonder why Global dropped it and what they will be broadcasting in the TBL time slot.

lara - I suspect Global's decision to abandon The Blacklist has more to do with prior commitments to carry something else at Blacklist's new time - than disfavour with the actual show! Blacklist doesn't get boffo ratings like Big Bang Theory but its an upper tier show to be sure!

Spader's buddy, Kevin Spacey just blew the house down as host of the 2017 Tony Awards in New York. Best 12 minute opening in show history. Then as if by magic, the cast of 'Come From Away' - musical about how the town of Gander hosted 7,000 people in the paranoia of 9/11 - WAS THAT A NUMBER OR WHAT?

BIG BREAKING NEWS FROM CBS - - -
Primary cast members Grace Park & Daniel Dae Kim appear to be on precipice of leaving Hawaii- Five 0
a Friday nite stalwart, now in its 7th season.
Apparently, both Kim & Park saying there's discrimination against Asian-American actors - they want same salaries as Scott Caan & Alex O'Laughlin.
Big loss - both actors started as fairly minor characters but both emerged as increasingly huge roles 'bout season 4 or 5.
Big loss - I imagine one final push from CBS to get the actors to change their minds. Wouldn't mind seeing either/both on Blacklist. Park is a great action star, looks bout 25 or 30 but she's actually 45 or so.
Kim is a great all-round actor. Just finished a stint on Broadway in The King & I.

BBB, that is a shame. I would also love to see them and a few others on the BL!!

Gracie Park in particular would make a great foil for either Liz or Samar. I wonder, after 7 years of playing an all-American hero on H50 does she have the chops to be a bad guy.
Kim has great acting chops and experience - imagine the 2 of them as an Asian faction vs. Red & the post office pygmies.

BB, lol

Re=Thinking Gracie Park working evil - she's been mostly cast as the Sugar Pie hero, she'd have to reinvent herself to go evil. Kim on the other hand - NO PROBLEMO!

Wow! I saw the first episode of "Midnight, Texas" (NBC - Mondays after ANW). This is a series based on the C. Harris novels, "Midnight Crossroad," "Day Shift," and "Night Shift," about the paranormal events that go in Midnight, Texas.
I read the first book back when it came out (2014? Something like that). It's rather odd. The main character is a phone psychic who, for unknown reasons, moves to a tiny town and gets involved with trying to solve a murder. Other characters include a witch, vampire, and this woman who may be a professional thief or hit man. In any case, she's like Atomic Blond, only brunette.
The first show filled in a lot of gaps left in the first book, like why the psychic came to Midnight, plus it made it clearer that he really can talk to the dead, although the dead are not always as helpful as one would like. There was a fair amount of understated humor, which made me laugh out loud.
I think this is going to be a good series! If nothing else, it's weird, just weird. The witch's cat talks, among other things.
Added: quick personal PS -- I'm not online much this summer. I have a lot going on in the real world. I'll be back more later in August.

Hi Iowa Watcher - nice to hear from you. Thanks for that info - I had not heard of this show (or the books).
sounds suitably strange!

I think you and other TBL watchers will like it! At least give the first episode a try. It's available "on demand" now at NBC.
