Summer TV is really depraved. Watched a baseball game (parts of it anyways) but then resorted to America's Got Talent. Couple good acts - The sad silent clown who looked lost and ready to commit suicide but ended up singing his arse off and tantalizing the crowd. Couple others, too! Same cast with Howie Mandel, Spice Girl, Heidi Klum & Simon Cowell - Nick Cannon was fired - they brought in Tyra Banks who's always easy on the eyes!

Well I started watching things on my summer list, and I was a couple of episodes in with "Master of None" and there was a mention of Blacklist and James Spader! Someone here may have mentioned this already, but I can't remember whether it was here or somewhere else that I read it, it might even have been in a tweet somewhere.
Anyway, in the episode, the lead character's agent calls him with a part that is going on The Blacklist and he declines to audition for it. That's all I'll say - its funny, but probably won't be funny out of context.
Well, even when I'm not watching The Blacklist, I'm sort of watching it! LOL

Yeah, I know summer TV stinks. That's why I started this thread. Some great ideas here!
I rarely just watch TV, TBL being one exception: I'm usually sewing or doing a project. AGT is great for that because it rarely requires all of my attention, plus it's "G" rated and not as objectionable for my young guests as some of the shows that are on.
I wondered what had happened to Nick! At first, I thought Tyra was a little obnoxious, but she's growing on me.
It looks like they've got some good acts this year. Do you remember Tapeface from last year? I don't think they can top him. What a hoot!

Tapeface was amazing. They finally peeled off the tape - and revealed he was Mike Pence!

Ah yes, I watched that show last year. I really liked tapeface too! How he thought up that act, lol!
I have not watched it this year though. It must conflict with something else I do. And yes, Iowa Watcher I watch little TV as well. TBL is the only thing I watch on NBC. I never watch ABC or FOX. The few things I watch regularly are generally CBS. Anything other than a regular series I tend to tune in while I'm doing something else so ditto on AGT!
I also started watching Bloodline on Netflix. Finished first series. I think it's very good, but it's so intense that for me, I can't watch more than 1 or 2 episodes at a time. It's a sort of story of family with a nasty secret, suspense, bad stuff happens. That's all I'll say in case anyone else is going to watch!
I've put TBL on back burner for now. I just want a little distance before I dive back in Might give a new perspective, who knows!
lol autocorrect changed 'tapeface" to 'typeface'! Now that would be an interesting act!!

Well my TBL summer adventures continue. I think it might be a very Blacklist summer!
Last night, the 'Master of None' episode had the TBL mention. Then this afternoon, while sitting in a park next to Lincoln Center, a Russian family came and sat next to me. The little girl's name was Masha! Masha was often scolded as she did not listen to her mother! Lol
Then I went through a crafts fair that was taking place there and one of the first vendors I came across was someone who re-purposed antique phonographs! Lol. 🙃

Lara, that is so funny! Almost chocked on my Biscoff cookies! Lol

I do not look at t.v. either except some news and TBL. It is hard to find anything to keep my interest.
I saw the commercial for TBL pilot and said I would try that and I couldn't move from the chair!
I was watching The Player and got very irked that they cut it off the way they did. I have tried a few shows and can't get past 5 minutes...

Well my TBL summer adventure continued AGAIN as i went to see a new film(documentary) , "Restless Creature" last night. Its the story of a principal ballerina with the NYC ballet who retired recently after 30 years with the company. Premiered at NY Film Festival and just rleased into distribuiton.
It follows her at a pivotal point in her career Its just been released and very good, although since I'd seen her dance multiple times, I suppose she is more familiar to me. Then there was a fantastic Q&A afterwards with Wendy and the filmakers.
So in the space of a few hours, I encountered "Masha", phonographs and ballerinas! wow. such a coincidence.
Eastcoast #27 - LOL!

Lara -- too funny! You have TBL on the brain and the Universe knows it!
Eastcoast -- I had pretty much given up on prime time network TV, but I really like JS, which is why I tuned into TBL. I was hooked from the start, as well.
AGT became my box-sorting show when I was downsizing my house and getting ready to move to a smaller place. At one time, I had about 80 office copy boxes full of family crap and endless papers from past jobs. I hate sorting! I hate boxes of crap, so they took up space in closets and the basement for years. I made myself do 4-6 each time AGT was on. That's how I finally finished that task.
I think I only kept about a dozen hard-copy documents and four-five photos after all of that. The rest was scanned, shredded, recycled and/or given to Goodwill. I wish I had done that years sooner!

Iowa Watcher - I am impressed with your organized clear out! I did something similar in my apartment last year, but yours is much more impressive!
"Normal" NYC apartments are very small, but I had somehow managed to cram every nook and cranny in closet and cupboard space with stuff - old stuff I'd been holding onto, old paperwork etc. I literally ran out of room. LOL that stuff crept up on me.
I somehow managed to fill six large bags with shredding stuff, 6 large hefty bags of garbage and multiple bags of clothes for goodwill,. I did my paperwork sorting the same way, a pile at a time while having something rather basic on the TV, that didn't require much attention, to fend off the boredom.
I thought the same thing, why hadn't I got rid of that stuff long ago. it really clears out mental space, i think, to get rid of it Now i have much more mental space to theorize about TBL LOL..

Well, the Blacklist weekend continued! LOL. Further into the series "Master of None" tonight and yet another episode mentions TBL! Its one of the character's favorite shows, and then, when someone goes "Missing", the comment is that Reddington would be able to find her! LOL Nearly fell off the sofa! Fun to share!

L1, I bet you did! That's funny.
I guess i have to stop eating my cookies when I sign in! Tonight it was Lorna Doones. Lol

PRETTY IMPRESSIVE SEASON FINALE FOR A FORMER TV DOG - GOTHAM.
Boy, did this show ever incorporate (steal) effective elements from my two favourite shows (Person of Interest and The Blacklist)
ie. longer character narratives, spicy writing, dramatic moments, deaths of key characters, etc.
The finale tonite HAD IT ALL.
Morena Baccarin's 'Lee' deserves special commendation - as were the superb finale performances of lead actor Ben McKenzie, the Batman-in-training David Mazouz, Canada's Jessica Lucas, Butch Gildean's Drew Powell & Erin Richards. All the side characters were superb.
Obviously the most compelling, continuous performances were delivered by Cory Michael Smith as The Riddler and Robin Lord-Taylor's Penguin. Veteran character performers Donal Logue and Sean Pertwee gave the finale the gravitas it needed to reach excellence.
Hopefully, the show is renewed for another season or two - to follow the maturation and evolvment of Bruce Wayne into a more mature Batman - the training of young Camren Bicondova (youngest cast member) into a mature Catwoman.
Tremendous finale fwiw - after bearing with this show for so many lazy and poorly produced episodes - THE TWO HOUR FINALE WAS WORTH THE WAIT! BARELY!

Hi y'all! Been a little MIA.
This summer I'm currently watching:
-Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (just finished)
-Shameless (US) (This will take me a LONG time to finish...most likely not until 2018)
-Masters of None (on S2, ep 3; started S2 a few weeks ago) (you all got me excited for TBL references!)
-PGA tour (weekends around activities)
-Casual (can't remember if I watched S2, and S3 just started)
-Brooklyn 99 (started watching during the current season and have been hooked ever since. I'm currently S2).
Every summer we watch Big Brother on CBS. It's terrible reality tv, but we can't stop watching.
I'd also like to watch The Handmaid's Tale, Younger, and The Path.
Plus kiddos have a list of movies they'd love to see this summer.
Do I have enough time for all this????

Patter, thanks for your input, You've mentioned a couple of shows that I've meant to look into, I will do that for sure now. Master of None dropped a reference to Fisher Stevens in one episode that I almost missed. I wonder if Aziz is a fan of the show. LOL
I've been thinking of picking up Hulu (don't currently have it) as I move further and further from broadcast TV. The Hulu shows you mentioned seem interesting too. It looks like they (Hulu) run a number of "regular" TV shows so with dropping cable I might be able to pick up some stuff on Hulu if I ever miss those shows. things to ponder!
We have been having an unusually cool and rainy June here. I am still waiting for summer to start in earnest!

BBB - interesting feedback on Gotham. I never really got into it, but it seems that maybe it improved as it went on.

We've strictly been on the streaming services and OTA antenna for about 2 years now. Hulu is really great for next day viewing of so many shows. And they acquire some shows that don't go to Netflix. Netflix is great because their library is huge and has so much original programming. Rarely do we watch Amazon Prime (I forget we even have it). We added Sling TV early this year and at first I almost cancelled because the stream at times can be fuzzy or delayed, but it's improved, and I'm not locked in to any cable provider so I can cancel anytime. The only thing that can be challenging is OTA for local broadcast. We are 40-45 miles from on major city and about 75 from the other, so sometimes stations don't come in depending on weather. This can be a problem for NBC and our beloved TBL (and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Superstore & This Is Us), even then I can watch next day on NBC app thru Xbox or on Hulu. When TBL returns in the fall I will most likely only view next day as my kiddies are still awake at 8pm. There may need to be some bribing on Wednesday nights.

Never saw the film "Death Proof" with Kurt Russell. So I was a bit surprised to see my girl from NCIS: New Orleans, Vanessa Ferlito - and the most expressive eyes on network TV. Complete from the film Deathproof here's Vanessa Ferlito with the exquisite/haunting "Down in Mexico" by The Coasters (circa 1957)
