Liz's scar

Talking about Red's scar got me thinking about Liz's scar again.  Just wanted us to have a place to put all our info and theories :-)

Re: Liz's scar

What we know so far:

Liz got the scar when she was 4 (or 14 but probably 4).

Liz got the scar on fire night.

A scene in the Arsonist comicbook shows Liz holding/dropping a gun on fire night, saying it was hot, then holding her wrist.

IF (big if) Liz got the scar from a hot gun, why would a gun have such a unique marking or logo on it? She looks branded, almost as severely as Dembe had been. But her scar seemed to be an accident, at least according to her memories.

So is the scar a logo of some sort? For what, a secret group like the Cabal?

Both Tom and Gina had boxes with the scar carved into their lids. And Tom gave Liz an envelope with the scar on it. This was at a time when Tom was working for Berlin via the Major. But Gina was working only for the Major. So Berlin and his criminal empire are out. Plus Berlin is dead, and for the sake of the series I'm guessing the scar logo owner is still alive and waiting to become the next big bad. This group has to be big and organized. Who seriously carves wooden go boxes? And runs to a printshop to have specially made envelopes (or at least prints envelopes on a home printer).

It's possible that the scar logo was the Major's. He ran the finishing school for spies that Tom attended. But like Berlin the Major is dead. Another dead end (pun intended).

I don't know who first discovered it, but Liz's scar looks like the Baltic Sea. Is this where the super crime organization is? The whole series is intertwined with Russia and the Cold War, thus so far is the best suggestion.

Liz's scar also looked like the blood in Antioch Caine, when Liz faked her death (the first time). Was Red trying to send a message to the super crime organization?

Last but not least, I noticed that Lake Charlevoix is also a bit similar to the scar. So far, Lake Charlevoix is the only place Red mentioned about his childhood. Is that place significant?  All that google and i could find was a military plane crashed there in 1971 and there was a nuclear power plant nearby. Also indirectly connected to two infamous murders. JonBenet Ramsey's family spent their summers at Charlevoix. Loeb of "Leopold and Loeb the crime of the century" spent summers there with his family. His dad owned a farm in Charlevoix. When I get a chance, I'll dig into this some more on our THRUSHES site.

Which came first - the logo or Liz's scar? Before Requium I'd have said the logo. Then Red said he'd build a criminal empire to protect Liz, so scar first then logo is possible.

I'm confusing myself and missing a lot about Liz's scar - this is why I shouldn't post so late at night :-)
