Cartermatt article - end of Season 4 speculations

Very good! I had to stop perusing the web to finish filing my income taxes.
I tend to agree with that article. They nailed it. Once they resolve the "mystery" they can move on to what made them so successful in the beginning. I really want to see this coming/continuing good vs. evil or maybe evil vs. slightly-less-evil war get going. Get into the shadow government/conspiracy, spies, lunatic evil masterminds, whatever they care to write about stuff. They do that well. Bring on Howard Hargrave vs. Raymond Reddington.

To me, the mystery of that Liz-Red connection is what compels me to watch the show. After that is revealed, I think I would become a "casual" watcher. I don't believe the show can ever re-capture that Season 1 magic. I just don't care about most of the blacklisters or evil organizations like the Cabal. What made the Stewmaker and Anslo Garrick episodes so good was the emotional component and how it fed into the overall Liz-Red mystery.

Tuxie400 - I'm afraid I am in the same club as you.   I hope they don't reveal too much as it's the central mystery of their connection which so fascinates me and for me the core of which everything revolves around   - it creates so much dramatic tension and suspense. Having said that, I think we do need some backstory on some of the characters.

I basically stopped watching Elementary once the mystery of Moriarity was revealed. I now just dip into it now and again. Sure there is some ongoing storyline which grabs my interest from time to time but it's basically a case of the week which is not really of that much interest to me.

Still, a lot of viewers probably want to know the connection so we'll see what they do.

Re: Cartermatt article - end of Season 4 speculations

From all the spoilers and from Spader this morning on the Today show, it sounds like they will give a more fleshed-out background, but they will keep a lot of secrets. He said you can't keep stringing along an audience without giving them something every once in a while.

Now that is interesting. If that's the case, then maybe we have a Season 5???

Re: Cartermatt article - end of Season 4 speculations

I have a feeling we may get a lot of "what" without a lot of "why. Not only that, but I wonder how much we will get vs. how much Liz will get? It could be like  Red's "Elizabeth is my daughter" confession. We got it, but Liz didn't. I really hope it is more along the lines of Red finally having that long overdue talk with Liz about her faking her death and confronting all the baggage that stirred up but was never resolved or even spoken of. I doubt he is going to tell her the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about the past yet, but he has to deal with those unresolved issues with Liz and Kate and now Dembe. It's as though his whole "family" turned on him and he's been at sea ever since and so the stories can't progress.

Anyway, that's what I think.
