No doubt! They both bring so much to the screen! And I cannot see anyone else delivering the way they do!

Eastcoast #50 - You make so many good points in this post.
"So if that is true, as mentioned that might be why Red told him not to go sticking his nose
into the past. The look on his face to think that may not be his mother was really sad to me. Reminded me of Liz when she thinks she has a piece of her past and then looses it."
Red suspecting Scottie was a Russian operative may well be why he tried to get Tom to back off. Poor Tom - he doesn't know what to think now, and neither do we. Scottie's grief over the journalist/spy last week seemed so real. Could that have been her real son? She seemed more torn up over it than his mother. Or could she have been having an affair with him? She seemed to be cavorting with a much younger boy toy at the beginning of the episode. Scottie is a real enigma.
I liked your list of causes and effects here:
"It would make sense that she seamed to heal but Howard did not.
That would mean that she probably paid the guy to confess to his murder so he could be declared dead.
This would give her control of the company without sharing it.
Bad part of that is she would probably really want Tom dead and
will try to kill him because she does not want to share the company. That might mean she would have to try to kill Liz and Agnes so they could not have a part of it either.
It does set up the rest of Redemption to be highly dangerous for Tom, and perhaps his family too.

Tuxie400 - glad that you were not impacted by the worst of the storms. Tatiana - wow that is amazing.
Here in NYC we have had our own weather extremes, not quite as dangerous but our temps have been see-sawing between very warm 60s to cold again 30s. We had a very mild week then very windy yesterday and now we are in the 30s and its snowing. We might have a large snowstorm again early next week, but all of the meteorologists are holding still on that one thus far.

Honey West and Iowa Watcher - I think both Tom and Red have the kind of "blue" eyes that can look blue/green or blue/gray depending on the lighting. Just like the sea! And maybe ballerina girl (haha I just had to add that in there....!)

Tuxie400 #63. I like your observation on Scottie and Kevin. She did seem very torn up over both his abduction and then his death. When I watched it, I thought that was perhaps because it was like losing her son all over again. But what if Kevin was adopted and he was really Scottie's son (whether or not she is the real Scottie). He was a few years older than Christopher and so he could have been her son before she met Howard and/or "changed" into Scottie. That is intriguing, I will bear that in mind when I re-watch.
It was also interesting to me that Scottie had the home movies of Kevin and was with him when he learned to ride his bike. Of course she was close to him as an aunt, but was it more? I wonder if there are any parallels to the situation with Red's home movies. I do chuckle though, that while Red splices together old film to watch on a vintage projector, Scottie has "digitized" her home movies and plays them on her computer!
I'm also intrigued by who the other children are at the birthday party and whether one of them is Liz/Masha. Other than the one girl (who is hard to see clearly) the others seem to all be other boys, or did anyone see something different?
I'm very interested now. And yes, it does bode for a dangerous mission for Tom. I do wonder if that is one reason why Red initially wanted to send him in to Halcyon, but no longer wanted to when Liz was found alive. But we don't know Red's motives yet - though It think he does have them!

Just a thought:
If Scottie were one of the Russian doubles, why would she have sent Solomon and company to thwart their bombing plan? Does she have to stay in character - no matter what?

Tuxie400 - good point. Maybe in order to continue the "deception", perhaps a concession sacrificed for the overall plan. And since Howard had already agreed to the assignment, I suppose she should have to keep up appearances with the Pentagon?
i didn't catch what they were planning to blow up. I need to re-watch - volume issues! LOL

Here's an interesting article about the Russian connection between the two shows.

Before I take off for the day and do some RL things, I forgot to mention that the book Tom had in Ep 1 with the picture of him and his mother in it was Bright's Passage by Josh Ritter. He wrote the song Change of Time which is one of my top 10 favorites of all time!!
It was in episode 1 of the Pav. Brothers.
It is an interesting song and worth listening to.

I had a dream last night
I dreamt that I was swimming
And the stars up above
Directionless and drifting
Somewhere in the dark
Were the sirens and the thunder
And around me as I swam
The drifters who'd gone under
Time, Love
Time, Love
Time, Love
It's only a change of time
I had a dream last night
And rusting far below me
Battered hulls and broken hardships (reminds me of Tom held captive in the hull of the boat)
Leviathan and lonely
I was thirsty so I drank
[ From: ]
And though it was salt water
There was something about the way
It tasted so familiar (Tom and Liz's relationship; not at all healthy but familiar)
The black clouds I'm hanging
This anchor I'm dragging
The sails of memory rip open in silence
We cut through the lowlands
All hands through the saltlands
The white caps of memory
Confusing and violent
I had a dream last night
And when I opened my eyes
Your shoulder blade, your spine
Were shorelines in the moonlight
New worlds for the weary
New lands for the living
I could make it if I tried
I closed my eyes I kept on swimming

Eastcoast, that was a good observation. I listened to the song but it made me teary-eyed. It is a beautiful song. It really is reflective of Tom's life, you know? And very reminiscent of Red with all the sea references.

Eastcoast - That song has wonderful imagery that does match both Tom's and Red's lives. I've listened to a lot of songs from the Blacklist - but never that one. It is beautiful!

Eastcoast and Tuxie - I agree with your observations and concerns.
The first two Redemption episodes were ho hum - another "Mission Impossible" spy operative show. But, episode 3 - Wow! We have a fascinating story that is tethered to the Blacklist.
Scottie vs. Howard...Which one is crazy - which one is telling the truth? If she were a sleeper agent, could Scottie have been cerebrally manipulated to feel empathy, sympathy, grief for any lost or dead child to add to the believability that she is the real Scottie, but not! At this point, Tom is correct to be frightened. And I am very glad that Scottie found a Wall Street Journal reading romper instead of a fixation on Tom.
I'm having a terrible time understanding Scottie's British assistant's lines and wasn't the last song (Nez going to the drug house) an Adele song? Hearing impairment and severe tinnitus creates problems with following the story.
Anyway, Blacklist: Redemption - I'm hooked!

I agree that it was a wow episode, and it made me wonder just how connected it is to the main show. I'm hooked too! I didn't care for Scottie's romp with her gigolo, but at least she wasn't coming on to Tom this time. And I totally agree about the British assistant. I found it very hard to understand what she was saying.

Watching ep 3 now and I am only seeing and hearing John Locke, especially when he talks about he plane crash! How do I accept him as Howard?!?! ;)

Lol so true Patter!
Kinda like when someone took James Spader's dialogue from the Office and dubbed it over Ultron.
