Re: Redemption Episode 1.03: Independence, USA Discussion

But I think Redemption has the luxury of going a little more over the top. It sure would have been fun to have this be a double episode as the idea is intriguing and repugnant at the same time!!!

Stellar performance on behalf of Tawny :-)

Well that was fun!

Smart episode, near-perfect writing and decent direction. All the actors turned in fine performances tonite - but immo Tawny Cypress was the break-out star.
Followed closely by:

2. Tom
3. Solomon
4. Tom's "Fake Lizzy"
5. Dumont
6. Terry O'Quinn
7. Scottie H.

Tawny was FANTASTIC! And I burst out laughing and Yahoo'd when she ran over fake Liz!!! You GO girl!!!

She was great - has come a long way since being a side-villain w/ Solomon on Blacklist. Too bad she's still hooked on "stuff"

Re: Redemption Episode 1.03: Independence, USA Discussion

Good episode! Much better than last week's. I'm not sure why the writing is so uneven from week-to-week.
Yes, the last few minutes made the show. However, I thought Tom's father is really the sleeper agent, not Scottie. LOL, maybe they both are! HA!

Tom shouldn't trust either of them!

Eye color question. I thought it was mentioned that Chris (Tom) had blue eyes. But I thought Tom's eyes are brown. Did I mishear something? I'll be back in the morning. Bedtime for me!

Iowa Watcher - I think Tom's eyes have always been blue, I remember thinking he, Liz and Red, all blue eyes.

Re: Redemption Episode 1.03: Independence, USA Discussion

Hello Everyone - hands down my favorite Redemption episode so far and it sounds like others feel the same way. A friend of mine stopped watching after the first episode and I just told him to get back into it.

Some parallels with TBL, or maybe Easter eggs. Operation North Star reminded me of Marvin Gerard episode when Red pointed out the North Star to Liz and commented on finding his way home. Plastic surgery and plane crash reminded me of General Ludd episode. Shower scene reminded me of Tom with real Liz.  American flags.

And Hudson's impersonator was already mentioned. Wonder if he barks with a Russian accent...

That was my running commentary to my husband as we watched tonight! LOL! "There's the giant American flag again" "Oh, it's a Hudson named Sam"
"North Star" "shower"

Spot on!

Colleen and Tatiana - yes there were definite nods to a number of Blacklist episodes/scenes.

Colleen - your observation on "North Star" and Red finding his way home is interesting, i did not make that connection.....

Re: Redemption Episode 1.03: Independence, USA Discussion

Colleen - It was an excellent episode!  Like you, when they said it was Project North Star, I immediately thought about what Red called Liz in the Marvin Gerard episode.

Tatiana - I didn't think Howard's theory about Scottie was outlandish at all. I had expected her to turn out to be a Russian operative and connected to Katarina somehow. I love the replacement idea. Now I just want to know if it links to Red's story.

I'll have to rewatch. Bad storms with tornado warnings here tonight pre-empting parts of the show.

Re: Redemption Episode 1.03: Independence, USA Discussion

Great Episode! A Wow factor!

So if that is true, as mentioned that might be why Red told him not to go sticking his nose
into the past. The look on his face to think that may not be his mother was really sad to me. Reminded me of Liz when she thinks
she has a piece of her past and then looses it.

Some things make sence and some dont.

If that is true...

It would make sence that she seamed to heal but Howard did not.

That would mean that she probably paid the guy to confess to his murder so he could be declared dead.
This would give her control of the company without sharing it.
Bad part of that is she would probably really want Tom dead and
will try to kill him because she does not want to share the company. That might mean she would have to try to kill Liz and Agnes so they could
not have a part of it either.

I think in the first episode she said she wanted to have him declared dead and Howard would not agree to it.

At first I thought it was odd to think she would be watching home movies and being upset, but then I was thinking that she did
say Kevin was like a second son to her.

I really thought Howard had lost it except that he said she was Different after the accident.

We never really know anyone do we.......

Didn't know if they'd ever give her a stand alone episode. Guess this is it.

Yes she does, but the eyes of Scottie are cold to me , very cold!

Re: Redemption Episode 1.03: Independence, USA Discussion

So I have updated the timeline and I thought I would also add my BLR notes for reference since the show does connect to TBL. Things like the name Whitehall and other things might make things click together.

After writing my notes, I can now see what Howard is thinking.  He is thinking that someone set up to have his son kidnapped to get him out of the picture so there is no heir for the company. He thinks they killed his wife so they could gain control of his company so they can have access to gathering all the intelligence right under everyone's nose.
When he told him, "you have no idea what is coming for you" I think he meant that they will kill him so he cannot be the heir to that company.

I think RG has the most beautiful blue eyes. I think I mentioned on the other board that he brings out my inner cougar. LOL! (wub)

But it's interesting that on Red's wanted poster his eye color is listed as green.

Re: Redemption Episode 1.03: Independence, USA Discussion

I've liked Redemption from the beginning, but it has really gotten moving along now. A good running plot, good action, and it seems to be utilizing these previously introduced characters quite well. I had been a little worried that once they got their own show they might morph into other people. But they are staying true to what they brought with them and the expansion of their stories has been handled well. I can't wait to learn more about Solomon. He's a great character. He is the most deadly, yet also is the one who gets the best one-liners. Reminds me a little of someone... (whistling)

I think this idea of building fake communities to train sleeper agents has been around for awhile, but I liked the twist of them actually creating them to be doppelgängers to replace existing people rather than just being infiltrators. And they pulled off the plausibility factor, too.

I hope Redemption can build up viewership because I think it has "legs". It can be a nice little show all on its own.

Thanks Lara and Honey West! I get strange ideas when I'm tired.

I hope that you don't have a lot of clean up from the high winds, Tuxie.

Re: Redemption Episode 1.03: Independence, USA Discussion

Tuxie - Hoping you and yours are safe from the tornado/high winds/storm.

We had extremely high winds all day on Wednesday which was even reported on national news when semis flipped on the highway due to the high winds. It was beautiful out, blue skies and sunny. I had to drive my child an hour away east of here and I could hardly keep in my lane even with both hands on the wheel. I've never experienced weather like that before and I've been all over this great country!

Be well! As they say, March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.

Re: Redemption Episode 1.03: Independence, USA Discussion

Thanks everyone for your concerns about the weather threats here. Luckily for me, the storms with 100-mile an hour winds, baseballl sized hail and tornados were south of west of here. We had 55-mile an hour wind, lots of lightning and heavy rain for several hours. There were only a few tree branches down in my yard, and some objects blown around.
