I hate to be a wet blanket, but I am preferring original BL to Redemption. Missing Red and his questionable cool quirky cohort. Plus, it didn't help that I LOVED the Winter Finale.

There will never be another Blacklist! I love love love that show!
But I do like Redemption - its different. And there's a lot of humor, which I did not expect.
Cast works well together.....

OK, so I liked this more than I thought I would. Cast works together well without too much time working together yet.
TBH, I will never obsess over this show like I do with TBL but its a very different type of show.
I think it was good at what it set out to do. Well that's my two cents, anyway.
I do think we will get some BL Easter eggs as Tom's history is discovered....

Both Mr. & Mrs. Hargrave have a ton of tricks and deceitful indulgence in their respective tool-kits.
Even without the incomparable Mr. Spader this is a good, action-filled show. Tawny Cypress makes a very good minor character to be sure.
Obviously, the show-runners are hoping Famke J can do the quirky thing enough to stand up to the giant work product of James S. That's gonna be difficult. But the team they've assembled has legs!
Can't wait for some intersection of characters like Samar, Aram & Ressler to Redemption - and then one day, a surprise, surprise, surprise visit from Gomer Pyle - no, from Mr. Reddington!!!

I wonder if Scotty has an accountant?
I hear Marvin Gerard may be seeking work?

BBB - LOL
I do think that Redemption is best enjoyed on its own. It can't be TBL, but is good on its own for what it set out to do.

BBB - I agree that it's a good action-filled show!
lara1 - Fun to watch, yes! I think I could get a bit obsessed about what happened to little Christopher Hargrave. I agree about the hospital room escape and Howard's wall mirroring those Season 1 Blacklist scenes you mentioned. I also think Scottie's comment about the man knowing how to wear a tux mirrored what Maddie said about Red in BL Season 1. The implanted bomb was like The Courier on steroids.
The only character I don't care for is Dumont. He's no Aram. LOL

Tom's father doesn't seem particularly emotional about finally meeting him. (And how did he know? Did Red tell him? Or the confessed killer's mom?)

Ook Ook Book a Book - I agree with you. Although Redemption will help us pass the time until Blacklist returns. I keep wondering if Redemption will end up giving us clues for Blacklist - similar to how the comics and books do.
Back to back episodes didn't give us time to let one episode soak in before focusing on the next. Redemption is supposed to be more spy/thrilling, but I wonder if it will have running themes - or even a few of the same themes (like water, pianos, etc).

I agree! It was better than I expected, as well. The chemistry worked. If they continue to get some good writers, it can work. If not, it'll be a messy implosion: they have a bunch of characters who really don't like/trust each other and that can work in some interesting and unexpected ways.
I guess I'm bothered by the idea that they sucked all of the O2 out of the room, but seconds later, Tom was able to run in there without equipment and find & photograph the right map. And that was a fairly large bomb that they pulled out of that agent. I was yelling at the screen at that point. They had that cool like transmitter/mapper that was awesome but then there was this "bomb" that looked like it was out of the early 1980s.
But I can forgive all that if they keep up the humor. We need something to watch while we wait for TBL to return.

Laura1 - wall clue skills from his dad!!!
BBB - Marvin Gerard looking for work!!!
Redemption doesn't need Blacklist Easter eggs - fans just need to check out this site. Literally laughed out loud reading your jokes. Love it :-)

That's a great point! I don't trust Tom's father or mother. I think that they both have secret agendas.

Good point, both. Yes how did Howard know? Is he in cahoots with our friend, Red?
I think Red does want to know stuff about Scottie, why we don't know. He wanted Tom in there. why is the question. and did Howard agree to help. and if so why.

IowaWatcher - I think the fact that you don't know whether to trust Howard or Scottie will make Redemption more fun to watch. I am suspicious of both, and Tom should be too.

Agree - and when I listened to each of their stories (Scottie and Howard) it sounded like the mirror images of the same story, not quite Red/Kirk, but reminded me of that.

It's neat how many folks mention not knowing who to trust on Redemption. Seems like on Blacklist we're trying to solve a puzzle but on Redemption we're trying to spot the liars. We're playing a different game for the next two months. Which is good for keeping our brains in tip top shape :-)
