No tweets from producers? NBCBlacklist 'the last chapter'?

https://twitter.com/NBCBlacklist/status/832986824268247041

This doesn't look to promising for a Season 5

When was the last time you saw a tweet from Bokenkamp, Eisendrath, or any of the others? It really feels like this will be the last season.

If it is, I really want to know why.

I've read something recently about how it's a love story, not about the past but about the future...hmmmm.

Tatiana - That Tweet is pretty vague and cryptic. I'm not sure it has anything to do with ending the show. It's true that there haven't been many tweets from Bokenkamp, Eisendrath or others lately. But they never did tweet for every episode. I figured they were just too busy with Redemption. What's causing me more concern is the removal of Blacklist items in the NBC store.

Re: No tweets from producers? NBCBlacklist 'the last chapter'?

I figured they were busy with Redemption, too. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

On the other hand, they still won't finish with the magic 100 episodes for syndication unless they at least get a half season for 5. The ratings have been going down, down, down, which is not good, for same day. They don't publish the +3 ratings, which is what they need to satisfy the advertisers.

But that is certainly a cryptic post.

Re: No tweets from producers? NBCBlacklist 'the last chapter'?

That tweet was very cryptic, but I thought it was about Red's decision re Kate.   I think it's meant to say that Red can't take back what he did, though he may, increasingly, wish he could.  But it’s done now.

I think fans are very nervous not having heard anything yet (myself included!) and are taking that tweet to maybe mean something else, which is very understandable!!

On the tweets from JB and JE, I just assume they are flooded with work on both TBL and Redemption.  Their absence from twitter I think coincides with when formal work (scripts etc) starting getting into high gear on Redemption.  They had to go and hire a separate show runner and key people for Redemption.  They are writing episodes and a whole spin off from scratch.  It has to work on its own and it has to work with TBL as well.  And I understand that they are still involved in reviewing and approving all ideas and scripts for TBL - these two shows are producing scripts and filming at the same time, which must be grueling.  And I think they may have other projects as well.

That said, I agree it would be nice to get tweets now and then from them.  I think Redemption should finish filming soon.  Maybe then we'll hear from them again.

I should mention , for those who don't know, that JB is going to en event that the folks from The Blacklist Exposed are hosting in the next month or so in Chicago at a conference there (I forget the name of it).  So he has committed travel time and discussion time to the show.

Having said all that, it would be nice to hear a positive sign so we can relax a little bit!  TBL is on the "more likely to be renewed list" now of both TV guide and TV Grim reaper (which I’ve read is actually the original cancel bear, don’t know if that is true or not).   Well I hope that helps all of us be a little bit optimistic.  LOL, finger biting times!!!!

Tuxie400 - the Blacklist items in the store - that is strange.  But I will say, when I was in the NBC store at Rockefeller Center in person last September, I don't recall seeing any Blacklist items then.  Maybe it was there and I totally missed it - that is possible. But  I did hear that a second BL novel though is coming out later this year.  If that is true, that is something.

Re: No tweets from producers? NBCBlacklist 'the last chapter'?

The online store still had plenty of Blacklist stuff in November. In fact I ordered myself a mug with a disappearing Reddington for Christmas.

Re: No tweets from producers? NBCBlacklist 'the last chapter'?

This cryptic communication reminds me greatly of how CBS and Person of Interest show-runners conspired to off one of the great shows in TV history.
Ratings started slipping as soon as they replaced Taraji Henson w/ Sarah Shahi & Amy Acker.
The battle of two artificial intelligences was also confusing to viewers - although it was riveting to many!
Acker became an acting legend working the last 3 years plus of the show - and they managed to get to 102 episodes - aka SYNDICATION COUNTRY
Other than real hard core TBL viewers the diversion to mystery story-lines has curtailed viewer growth. Person of Interest got devastated by far too many schedule breaks and the fact a shortened Season 5 started at least 1 year after Season 4 ended. TBL has fortuned better with scheduling but the addition of Redemption was neither here nor there. Famke was barely on 3 episodes of TBL and Eggold is NOT James Spader; good young actor but NOT JAMES SPADER.

That's the reality of network drama - the networks are married to ratings and according to the book of greed (I made that up) so be it. Redemption may last whatever the first order for episodes is (5 to 7 is my prediction)

If Spader senses mis-direction by NBC and/or the show=runners he'll pull the pin himself. He's done that in the past - he'll do it again.

Re: No tweets from producers? NBCBlacklist 'the last chapter'?

Honey West - I read somewhere that syndication can happen once you reach the 88 mark now, which TBL will achieve at the end of this season. I believe they look at the live airtime viewership and the DVR viewership in the first three hours after airing. Also, you bring up a good point about the 3 day viewing as TBL has solid if not very good viewership via DVR. But shows/networks play to advertisers ...mmoney money money....

Re: No tweets from producers? NBCBlacklist 'the last chapter'?

Thanks Tatiana for the link - I would never have seen it otherwise. Just checked it out - hopefully it's a puzzle rather than an omen...

AlyBlacklist responded that "what's done is done" is a quote from Macbeth. Which could be another cool Shakespeare reference, like Natalie Luca / Romeo and Juliet. What's not cool is that Macbeth and Lady Macbeth also don't live happily ever after. Macbeth began as a brave good guy but turned into a bad guy plagued with guilt and paranoia. And then he (major Macbeth spoiler alert) died.

What's also not cool is that I'm a big fan of Macbeth and totally didn't recognize the quote. I'm a fan because an actor named Jeremy Brett played Macbeth, but his most famous role was Sherlock Holmes. And the only character I probably love more than Red is Sherlock.

But enough ramblings from a senile Sherlockian. Thank goodness for sites like this where we can share info and ideas :-)

Lara - Yes, Grim Reaper is the actual Cancel Bear. He has a very high accuracy rate.

Re: No tweets from producers? NBCBlacklist 'the last chapter'?

Big Bad Bazzer - I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to commitment to a particular series. The last one we followed closely was Boston Legal (we just love Spader!). Then we watched "Chuck" on Netflix. That ending was so disappointing. So after that one, I promised myself I wouldn't go through that kind of "loss" again! ,
I just don't know if I can trust TBL producers!!!

Jeremy Brett will always be the Sherlock Holmes in my book. Even though I enjoy the new Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch. I loved Holmes since I read the Hound of the Baskervilles in junior high.

But really, what's done is done means forget about the past, you can't change it. That could apply to both Liz and Tom's searches for their pasts. And how many times have both been told to forget about searching and to leave the past alone? It can't be changed anyway. You can actually apply that phrase to many if not most people in the story. It's something they all have in common.
Maybe that's what they were trying to say.

Re: No tweets from producers? NBCBlacklist 'the last chapter'?

Colleen and HW - I also loved Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes.  Also Basil Rathbone.  there is a TV network where I am that re-runs one of the latter's Sherlock films each Sunday morning!  fun.  Also like the wonderful creativity with the current Sherlock series with Cumberbatch.  Not sure if the current season finale means the end of the series or not - could go either way with how they set it up.

Anyway I went back to Twitter to see if I could place that BL tweet in context by looking at what they tweeted before and after, but I can't.  It remains a mystery!

Re: No tweets from producers? NBCBlacklist 'the last chapter'?

I love that you all are Sherlock Holmes enthusiasts! As a pre-teen I was very into reading Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, and of course, much younger, Nancy Drew!

I grew up in the Chicago area and they always ran some great classics on Saturday and Sunday, often black and whites. We saw a lot of Basil Rathbone, so I was reluctant to watch anyone but Basil! Jeremy Brett brought so much more to the character, far more depth... :-)

Re: No tweets from producers? NBCBlacklist 'the last chapter'?

I just went on the NBC store and was able to pull up the dvds and the Elizabeth keen dossier ( which strangely says coming soon - maybe an updated edition?). Anyway no general merchandise but a few weeks ago when I did a search, there were no items at all. Just an FYI for everyone.

Thanks for posting that, lara1. Ratings are a rather mysterious form of statistics.

Re: No tweets from producers? NBCBlacklist 'the last chapter'?

Aly has posted another article with potential good news on the Blacklist.  She summarizes the Blacklist comments in her post, including that the show is important to NBC, and I note that the execs behind a few shows, including The Blacklist, will be in the NBC offices next week to "talk about next year".  While we don't know exactly what that means, I'm hoping we will hear something more definitive soon.

Re: No tweets from producers? NBCBlacklist 'the last chapter'?

I read the article Aly linked, I think it bodes very well for Blacklist, Blindspot and Timeless, all of which I watch! I really don't think Jennifer Salke would announce meetings where they're giving shows the ax.
