Re: Possible Parallels

lara1 - About cobalt - Don't forget Red's ruse to invest in cobalt mines in Season 4's The Forecaster.

The weird dolls hanging from the trees were in The Kenyon Family. The dolls sitting in the tea party formation at the Summer House were in the Mato episode.

Therapy  - Red says he went to marital counseling in The Director Conclusion.

Are you starting this list with a plan to rewatch and add things as you find them? Because there are many, many apple references.

Re: Possible Parallels

HI Tuxie400, Happy New Year!

Yes, its an organic list.  What's there now is a first draft, I have a lot of stuff to add.   I'll put what comes to mind, then add as I re-watch.  It probably won't be every single thing (like all mirrors for example), when there's just stuff in every episode.

Thanks for the added detail!

Re: Possible Parallels

Hi all, there's a first draft of possible parallels available now.  I will add to it as I re-watch, or just think of additional things.  I'm not going to include every mention of a mirror, just a bunch in the first couple of eps, and then notable ones.  For example, in Anslo Garrick, there are many scenes where the faces of the characters are reflected in the glass of the box, sometimes superimposed over each other, and at the end, various characters are filmed through glass that is broken or very cracked, etc.  I'm not going to note all of that because I think we all know mirrors are everywhere and just about every episode.  And, I would never have time to include them all!  LOL

Re: Possible Parallels

(I accidentally posted this in the wrong thread intially).

Something I realized the other day was the use of the word legendary being applied to both KR and Red.  In season 3 (in Gregory Devry, I believe) Red refers to Katarina as the “legendary spy master”.  Garvey refers to Reddington’s power as “legendary”.   And in the 100th episode I believe we are going to see Red in pursuit of a “legendary”  treasure.

Re: Possible Parallels

I've been rewatching some of the episodes from the fall, especially looking for imagery that takes us back to Fire Night.

Louvered Doors - That scene in The Endling that shows Liz and Tom by the louvered closet doors at the entryway of their apartment is shot in a strange way. Liz really isn't in focus in the camera shot, but the closet doors are!  Also in Ian Garvey, on the landing of the stairs, right after Red is whacked in the head with a shotgun, Red and Tom are shown on the landing in front of a closet with louvered doors. The image is only shown for like a split second, but it's there.

Christmas lights -  There's a photo of Dr. Nik in his car with colored lights shown in back of his car window in The Endling. They look like the Christmas lights in the Braxton II tangent memory from the Christmas tree lot.

There are some other images that parallel the lights in that Christmas tree lot.

The party lights strung up outside Red's newly stolen plane in Miss Rebecca Thrall.

The incendiary devices and the way they are strung in The Cook.

Re: Possible Parallels

Thank you for these. Sometimes even when we see them we may not think to link them together.  I saw the lights on the car but forgot about them.

Re: Possible Parallels

To me, hearts bring to mind not only cards, but also a link to Fire Night. Remember those two little heart prints on Liz's scorched bunny?  I've always thought those hearts might have been made by a bracelet with little hearts. And I've wondered if Liz was wearing that bracelet, and if that's what caught fire and burned her wrist - kind of friendship type bracelet that had little metal hearts hanging from it.

Notice Lena's tattoo is on her wrist. Her medical exam glove is even folded over to make sure the tattoo in in that wrist spot.

The other heart is the logo of Dr. Nik's hospital. It's formed by a hand hold - another important symbol of the Fire Night memories.

Re: Possible Parallels

Tuxie400 - the biggest tell for me was Tom HIDING in the louvered door closet at Dennison's when Red and Dembe come in.  And remember, the hallway was a parallel to the long, light colored hallway in the fire memories  with the boy/man/child/doll or whatever was at the end of it beneath the window.  In Dennison's apt bldg hallway, it was a bicycle.  (which has also cropped up in several ways this season including in the shed in Ruin).  The the louvered doors to the attic in The Travel Agency.  In the Cook also I believe when they (FBI) burst in, the louvered closet is exactly in the same location as in tom and Liz's apt.

I think there will definitely be some kind of fire night reveal.

Re: Possible Parallels

Thanks for these Tuxie400.  I'm sorry everyone that I hadn't been able to keep up the "Parallels" list.  I had a lot of free time when I started it and then life got crazy busy.  Same for the other lists.  I hope to get in the last few episodes during the olympics hiatus.

Tuxie400 - the one that reminds me most of the Christmas tree lot is the one with the white fairy lights strung around the airplane camping place.  And they were in the middle of the woods at that point.

Dr. "Nik" and the christmas tree lights

Re: Possible Parallels

also - weren't there two hearts on the daughters' tombstone at the end of the Travel Agency.....with the two stuffed rabbits.  That wasn't the heart I was thinking of, that one is an impression somewhere, I can't recall.  But the tombstone may have been two hearts as well.

Re: Possible Parallels

lara1 - Yes, you are right about the daughter's tombstone in The Travel Agency. There were two hearts, and there were two lop-eared stuffed bunnies. I didn't write about anything today that you already had on the parallels list. Tom hiding behind those doors sure was a big parallel, and you had mentioned the closet in the Keen apartment, but hadn't added it yet.

I do think all this imagery is pointing toward a reveal about Fire Night.

Re: Possible Parallels

lara1 - There was the heart shaped bathtub in Abraham Stern for Liz's stew. Was that the heart emblem you were thinking about?

Or maybe you were were remembering the other heart connected to Lena on a shirt in the Kilgannon Corp.:

Re: Possible Parallels

Tuxie400 - very cool heart and light observations.  No it wasn't the bathtub or the shirt.  I seem to remember them embroidered somewhere like on an article of clothing.  LOL

I think you may be onto something on the bracelet and Liz's burn.  although the burn does seem kind of large for a bracelet.  But we've had the Beth bracelet and the KR time capsule bracelet, then the red heart on Lena's wrist.    The singed hearts on the bunny.  the double hearts on the tombstone.  Interesting that there are two on both the bunny and the tombstone.  I guess time will tell.

Re: Possible Parallels

Now that I'm looking for parallels connected to fire memories, I realize the motel swimming pool with the little girl diving for quarters in Smokey Putnam is a parallel to Liz diving deep into her unconscious in the drained swimming pool in Luther Braxton II.

Re: Possible Parallels

Just another thought about the hearts: they were all shown in connection with someone who died.

Jiminy! Why didn't we think of that before?!
It made absolutely no sense for them to have Liz in the bottom of a dry swimming pool. I mean, you wouldn't be anywhere near an electrical outlet and you have to go up and down stairs to get to it.

I keep thinking of that Peter Gabriel song "Digging in the Dirt" when they go down an emotional path down the rabbit hole.

"I could tell you how to win a marathon, but you're assuming it's a 26.2 mile race. It's not. It's a 6.2 mile race that begins at mile 20." Raymond Reddington
